Sasuke Uchiha (うちはサスケ, Uchiha Sasuke) is the deuteragonist of the series and one of the survivors of the Uchiha Clan. He is the son of Fugaku Uchiha and Mikoto Uchiha, brother of Itachi Uchiha, as well as the current Reincarnation of Indra Ōtsutsuki. Despite building relationships with the members of Team Kakashi, Sasuke decided to defect from Konohagakure in search of the power needed to avenge his clan and assassinate Itachi. After discovering the truth about his brother, he founded Taka, was a temporary ally of Akatsuki and became an international criminal. After talking to Hashirama Senju he decided to follow his brother’s dream, collaborate with the Shinobi Allied Forces and set a goal to bring about a revolution in the Shinobi World. After the Fourth Shinobi World War, he would end up giving in to Naruto Uzumaki’s mentality, returning to the village and dedicating his life to protecting it and its inhabitants, becoming referred to as the “Supporting Kage” (支う影, Sasaukage, literally meaning: Supporting Shadow). Likewise, he became the husband of Sakura Haruno and father of Sarada Uchiha.
Appearance
Sasuke is a light-skinned ninja who has onyx eyes and black hair at chin height. His hair is spiked in the back with bangs that grow as the story progresses. As a child, his bangs hung above his eyes. Later, they started to hang on both sides of his face framing his cheeks and then returned again to their original style. During his childhood, Sasuke wore a simple black long-sleeved shirt with a turtleneck and the Uchiha symbol on the back, and black shorts (white in the anime). Sasuke wore the Anbu uniform once, when he joined Itachi on a mission to capture a boar.

According to Hashirama, Sasuke bears a striking resemblance to Izuna Uchiha. Sasuke is considered to be very handsome by most girls in his age group, with them feeling very much in love with him. At the beginning of Part I, Sasuke’s outfit consisted of traditional Uchiha clothing: a short-sleeved navy blue shirt with a high collar and the Uchiha symbol on the back, and white warmers on both arms, which he stopped wearing after the Chūnin Exam, along with white shorts.
In the last stage of the Chūnin Exam, he started wearing a black shirt, with several bandages that were covered by small belts on his left arm and similar bandages around both legs. As the story progressed, the Uchiha symbol became smaller and smaller until the moment he defeats his brother.
Initially, Sasuke wore a blue banded forehead protector with the Konoha symbol on the metal plate. After suffering his second defeat to Itachi, Sasuke stopped wearing it for a while. He put it on again during the second half of his battle with Naruto in the Valley of the End, only to drop it at the end. Since then, Sasuke has not worn a forehead protector.

In Part II, Sasuke has gotten noticeably taller over the two and a half years, as well as getting more muscular. When first shown, he wore a long-sleeved white shirt, similar in appearance to the long-sleeved shirt worn by Kimimaro, which was open at the torso, with a smaller version of the Uchiha symbol on its back. He wore dark blue pants with a blue cloth that hung halfway down his stomach to his knees along with black arm guards covering his arms that extended to the height of his upper biceps. He also wore a purple rope belt around his waist, tied in a loop, in which he carries his sword.
After fighting Deidara, he changed into a dark gray sleeveless shirt. His arm guards were also removed, and he started wearing bandages on his wrists, under which he wore special armbands with seals where he stores several shuriken. He also wore a black cape along with that. After he met and fought Itachi, he went back to wearing a white shirt (gray in the anime) with short sleeves and a high collar, similar in appearance to the blue shirt he normally wore in Part I, but with a zipper.
He also wears blue wrist warmers with his shuriken armbands hidden underneath. He briefly wore an Akatsuki cloak along with this one. Another notable feature is that along with this new look, Sasuke has begun to let his hair fall over his forehead. The Uchiha symbol on the back of his new look has returned to its original size since his battle with Itachi.
During the fitting for Itachi’s eyes in the Mountain Cemetery, he is seen wearing black Uchiha robes similar to those worn by Madara in his youth with a belt sash around his waist, although he reverts to his previous outfit. After meeting Hagoromo Ōtsutsutsuki’s spirit and receiving half of his power, Sasuke obtained a crescent moon-shaped seal on his left palm, but then he lost this mark after Kaguya’s sealing. After his final battle with Naruto following Kaguya’s defeat, Sasuke lost his left forearm.

Two years after the Fourth Great Shinobi War, a now young-adult Sasuke wears a navy blue sash that is wrapped several times around his head, which ties his normally spiky hair down and pushes it over his forehead. He now wears a black turtleneck shirt, similar to what he wore during most of Part I. His right arm is wrapped in navy blue bandages, matching his head. He also wears a tattered light brown poncho that covers most of his upper and lower body, as well as his arms.
Under this poncho, Sasuke wears a vest similar to those worn in Kumogakure, exposing his navel, which covers his right shoulder as well. Sasuke also visibly wears three necklaces, with each one having a faded green, red and yellow color, which he wears on top of his poncho. He now wears tattered light blue pants, while his ankles are wrapped in bandages that wrap all the way around his sandals. He also again wields his sword, which he hides under his poncho.
Years later, Sasuke’s appearance has matured greatly, with his hair growing even longer and his bangs becoming similar in shape to Madara’s. He wears a black jacket with a white shirt underneath, a purple belt, black pants and sandals. He is also shown wielding a Kusanagi sword hidden under his jacket, and carries a purple bag on his right shoulder. He once again wears a forehead protector, letting it hang from his left hip. In Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, Sasuke’s hair became curlier. His cape has also changed, though it is nearly identical to his old one, with the only notable difference being that it has more silver buttons on the collar.
Personality
As a child, Sasuke was very gentle and kind to his family and respectful of his clan and teachers. He was very proud to be the son of Fugaku and brother of Itachi, having a strong desire to emulate them, wishing to have his father’s approval and recognition. This changed after the massacre of the Uchiha clan, which eventually turned Sasuke into a cold, cynical and arrogant young man, becoming a self-styled avenger dedicated to killing Itachi and restoring the Uchiha clan.
During his time at the Academy, Sasuke was a loner, spending more time alone honing his skills than socializing with the other students, ignoring the various girls who were attracted to him in favor of solitude. When first introduced to Team Kakashi, Sasuke showed great indifference to others, feeling that his skills were superior to his teammates, seeing them as nothing more than an obstacle to him and his own advancement. Despite this, having worked with the Kakashi Team, Sasuke came to care more about his team and began to see them as a kind of family, becoming willing to risk his life to save those close to him on several occasions.
Sasuke also had a competitive streak, sometimes accepting Naruto’s challenges just to show that he was the superior one between the two. According to Kakashi, Sasuke has both a superiority complex and an inferiority complex, as he is unwilling to acknowledge when someone is stronger than him, but becomes obsessed when he believes they are.
Sasuke put aside his rivalry towards Naruto when he became certain that he was the best, however, this changed after he noticed Naruto’s rapid growth after the latter defeated Gaara. After a short battle with Itachi, whom he defeated Sasuke without much effort, he concluded that his time in Konoha, surrounded by his friends made him weak and that Orochimaru and his Cursed Sky Seal would give him the power to get his revenge.
Regardless, Sasuke did not come down to the level Itachi believed he would, choosing not to kill Naruto, his best friend, to gain the Mangekyou Sharingan, choosing to achieve power through his own path.
After his training under Orochimaru’s tutelage in Otogakure for two and a half years, Sasuke became a cold and calculating person, completely dedicated in his one desire to kill Itachi, considering that his own life did not matter to him. Breaking the ties that he believed held him back, Sasuke was apparently willing to kill Naruto just to prove a point with how much he had changed.
Because of his new abilities, he maintained his habit of underestimating his opponents, rushing into combat without a clear understanding of his abilities and suffering for it, although he acknowledged his mistakes from time to time. Sasuke had also developed a strong sense of pride towards his clan; such as his evident disdain for non-Uchiha possessing the Sharingan. Despite this, Sasuke did not stop forming bonds with those around him, forming a new team, which he came to view similarly to Team Kakashi and doing everything possible to protect them.
According to Obito, Sasuke took on all the hatred of the Uchiha clan – an ideal that has been passed down from generation to generation within the clan. After discovering the truth about Itachi’s actions and the massacre of the Uchiha clan, despite the fact that the Uchiha’s actions would result in a disaster for the entire world, including the clan itself, Sasuke swore revenge against the entire Konoha village for giving such an order to Itachi, wishing to end the village and purify the Uchiha name. Initially, Sasuke was at least willing not to kill those unrelated to his revenge, but over time as his hatred increased, such convictions were set aside, becoming cruel and ruthless.
In his thirst for revenge, Sasuke placed himself far above anyone or anything around him, willingly cooperating with Tobi despite him knowing that the latter helped Itachi end his clan, to help him in the destruction of Konoha, abandoning his team when they were no longer of any use to him, and sacrificing Karin to kill Danzō, despite her healing him for most of his mission. After his meeting with Naruto one last time before the Fourth Shinobi World War, Sasuke swore that he would kill Naruto in his quest for revenge, leading him to transplant Itachi’s eyes to awaken the Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan.
During the war, Sasuke met with a reincarnated Itachi and the two worked together to defeat Kabuto Yakushi to free the Reincarnation from the Impure World. During their conversation, Sasuke confronts Itachi about his decisions. When Itachi gives Sasuke his parting words, Sasuke began to question what it was to be a shinobi and why Itachi chose to lose everything so that he could protect the village and his brother.
After reviving Orochimaru to make him reincarnate the previous Hokage so that he could hear their stories, Sasuke accepted Itachi’s actions and decided to protect Konoha, but he would do it his way. Believing that the previous Hokage and the current five Kage are responsible for the world and its problems, he vowed that he would become Hokage and change it, apparently getting rid of his clan’s Curse of Hate. While these intentions are noble, very few believed his words, not trusting his motives; with Sakura and Sai among them.
Regardless, Sasuke fought with the sole intention of defeating Obito, Madara and the Ten-Caudas, though his reasons were to get rid of their obstacles to the new world he wanted to create and that he was only protecting Naruto so that he could defeat him later. Sasuke was one of the few shinobi who did not lose his resolve in the fight against the Ten-Caudas, even scolding Naruto for doing so.
Regardless, Sasuke’s characteristic devotion to his cause remained unchanged, as he was more than willing to abandon Kakashi and Sakura during the activation of the Infinite Tsukuyomi, only saving them with his Susanoo because they were both with Naruto at the moment. However, he did not fail to thank the others for helping him, as he thanked Sakura and Obito when they both rescued him from one of Kaguya’s dimensions.
After Kaguya’s defeat, Sakura and Sai’s suspicions of Sasuke are confirmed, as Sasuke’s cooperation with the Allied Forces was only a means to an end; the removal of as many people as possible who might get in the way of his own plans to lead the world through a revolution to end the current shinobi systems, including planning to kill all the current Kage and the Bijū.
Having come to terms with and accepting Itachi’s efforts to protect the village while branding her as a villain, Sasuke has come to believe that in order to unify the world, one must willingly endure the hatred of everyone around him and stay separate from the rest of the world, seeing this as the correct definition of being “Hokage”.
To do this, he intends to ignite the flames of hatred from all the villages and direct them upon him, becoming the villain whom everyone despises. Furthermore, firmly believing in starting over in every aspect, Sasuke wishes to break all ties of his past and present, even killing Naruto, whom Sasuke recognized as the closest friend he ever had. Growing so proud of his acquired power, Sasuke came to believe that he could be the strongest living being and was convinced that his power would eventually grant him immortality to continue his goal for all eternity.
However, after his final battle with Naruto in the Valley of the End, Sasuke is shocked to see how far his friend would go for him. Sasuke reveals to Naruto that he has always been jealous of Naruto for the fact that despite the fact that they were so similar, Naruto was able to turn the loneliness he felt into strength by forming bonds with others while he broke his bonds, thinking they were a weakness. Sasuke always found himself following Naruto from behind, just as he did with Itachi.
Going to tears and finally recognizing that Naruto was his equal, Sasuke finally overcomes his Hate Curse. Sasuke changed drastically after this battle, showing great remorse for his actions and going so far as to apologize to Sakura for everything he put her through, as well as showing genuine affection for her before leaving to explore the world to seek redemption for himself. This mutual affection for Sakura later led the two to marry and have a daughter named Sarada.
As an adult, Sasuke has matured in many ways – becoming a truly warm and caring person towards his wife and daughter, and also being more polite and friendly to his friends and companions (with the exception of Naruto, who he still speaks comically with a tone of superiority). However, he still maintains the cold-blooded attitude, keeping to himself most of the time and occasionally having a cold indifference if he is talking to someone he doesn’t trust, or less commonly, if he is forced to keep a secret, such as giving his own daughter a cold answer when she questions him about his absence in her life.
Despite the fact that he had to be away from his new family, Sasuke still maintains a strong bond with them in his own way, visibly reacting when Sakura and Sarada were talking about him being away. Sasuke also developed a strong sense of duty, keeping much of his independent personality, becoming more like Itachi, including his brother’s tendency to be emotionally distant with his family because of his duties. This latter analysis made it difficult for him to be a family man. Upon meeting his daughter again for the first time in years, he ignored questions about his absence in her life, saying it was none of her business, which was done to protect her from danger.
However, Sasuke still loves his daughter, as he put himself in harm’s way in order to save her, and showed a much warmer fatherly side with her once the fight was over, hugging her when he realized she was sad that he had to go back for his trip after returning home briefly. He also acknowledges his mistakes as a father and is willing to apologize for them. Sasuke also has a high opinion of Sakura. Despite being kidnapped, he has stated his confidence that she will likely have defeated Shin by the time he finds her and has criticized Orochimaru for thinking she is weak.
He is also shown being a bit of a hypocrite as he criticized Naruto for upsetting Sarada, something he had previously done. Sasuke has also become quite complacent; despite scolding Naruto for being soft, sparing Shin’s clones if they agree to stop fighting, Sasuke still accepted the decision and just pondered what to do with them. Before leaving to resume his mission, Sasuke comically refuses to kiss his wife, much to his dismay. He is also very protective of his wife and daughter, as he threatened Orochimaru after Shin attacks them.
When Boruto Uzumaki asked to be his student, Sasuke was initially reluctant to accept his offer unless he mastered the Rasengan, but finally agreed after seeing the great effort Boruto put into learning it. He develops a liking for Boruto, to the point where Boruto refers to him as “Uncle Sasuke” and Sasuke is willing to risk his life to protect Boruto and offers him encouragement, as seen when he tells the boy that he is a strong shinobi with the potential to surpass his father.
History
Past
Sasuke is the second and youngest son of the Konoha Military Police captain and head of the Uchiha clan: Fugaku Uchiha, and his wife Mikoto, and the first of Indra’s reincarnations to be born in an era of relative peace. Mikoto gave him the same name as the Third Hokage’s father, in the hope that he would grow up to become a great ninja like the Third’s father.
As a child, Sasuke grew up in the shadow of his older brother, Itachi Uchiha, who was recognized as a prodigy and seen as a genius by the Uchiha clan, and whose job would be to further strengthen the ties between the village and the clan. Sasuke’s father had a particular interest with Itachi. Itachi, on the other hand, was quite ambivalent and full of strangely conflicting thoughts, acknowledging Sasuke, taking an interest in his progress as a ninja, and spending his time playing with him, something their father did not do.
Even after Sasuke enrolled in the Academy, he was still unable to escape Itachi’s shadow. Despite constantly being at the top of every class, Sasuke received no recognition from his father, who defined Sasuke’s success in comparison to his older brother’s. Itachi acknowledged the rivalry Sasuke felt by saying, “We are brothers. I am the wall that you must overcome, so you and I will continue to exist together” However, Itachi was in love with his younger brother and Sasuke looked up to Itachi, wanting to be like him.
The relationship between Itachi and his father deteriorated further after Itachi was questioned by other members of the Uchiha clan about the apparent suicide of his best friend, Shisui. As Itachi’s behavior was becoming increasingly bizarre, Sasuke’s father began spending more time with Sasuke, and began teaching him to use the Fire Style: Great Fireball Technique, a common clan technique seen as a sign of the Uchiha clan member’s maturity.
When Sasuke first attempted to perform the technique, he only produced a small flame, and after that, some smoke. His father says that Itachi was able to use it on his first attempt when he was the same age as Sasuke, something that leaves him disappointed. Later, with a week of training, Sasuke (7 years old at the time) manages to perform the technique in front of his father, also proving to be a prodigy and finally receiving his father’s recognition. Sasuke’s father says that he could now proudly wear the clan emblem on his back.
After this, Sasuke also receives a stern warning not to follow Itachi’s footsteps from now on, surprising him, and completes by saying that he should follow his own path, and for the first time, Sasuke’s father shows to be proud of him, the same way he did with Itachi.
At some point in the past, Sasuke joined Itachi on a mission to catch a boar. Sasuke was wielding a bow and Itachi tells him not to hit any vital points. However, Sasuke ends up killing the boar. Eventually, they defeat the boar and Sasuke apologizes for it, Itachi responds by saying that he needed to train more.
On one fateful night, Itachi kills all the members of the Uchiha clan, sparing only Sasuke, saying that he wasn’t even worth killing. Furthermore, Itachi says, “You always wanted to surpass me. That’s why I’ll let you live…if you want to kill me, then hate me, despise me…and run away, cling to your miserable life.” Itachi also reveals to Sasuke, where the Uchiha’s secret meeting room was, and suggests that Sasuke should go there to learn the true history and purpose of the Sharingan. He also tells him that “to awaken the Mangekyou Sharingan,” he “had to kill the person closest to him,” and that “when they battled, they should both have the same eyes.”
Sasuke thought he had passed out after that, but then recalls that he had managed to recover and awaken his Sharingan, and chased after Itachi. Upon reaching Itachi, he used a few kunai to knock out his forehead protector. Itachi is seen shedding a tear as he went to pick up the forehead protector. He then incapacitates Sasuke, who wakes up in the hospital remembering only what Itachi wanted with him.
When Sasuke meets Naruto Uzumaki at the Academy, they were matched to fight each other. Naruto was excited at the opportunity to defeat Sasuke and become popular like him, but he was easily defeated. Looking into Sasuke’s eyes, Naruto realized that they were so full of hatred that it seemed as if he wasn’t even looking at Naruto. When Iruka tells them to make the reconciliation seal, the two refuse. Until his graduation from the Academy, Sasuke remained a loner and never acknowledged Naruto’s attempts to defeat him, considering him a loser and as such, someone not worth his time or energy.
Part. I
Prologue – Land of Waves
After the massacre of his clan, Sasuke lived on a dark side, with cold feelings and only one goal: to take revenge on his older brother, Itachi Uchiha. Sasuke was considered the most genial and popular student at the academy, often being flirted with by girls, including: Sakura Haruno and Ino Yamanaka, and envied by the other boys due to his great talent, among them: Naruto Uzumaki. While he had a competitive personality with Naruto, they also considered themselves friends. Soon after Sasuke became a Genin, he was placed in the Kakashi Team, along with Naruto and Sakura, being led by Kakashi Hatake. He was seen as being forced to hang out with Naruto and Sakura, since he was not big on making friends and thought he was quite different from his teammates. At the very first introduction of Team 7, Sasuke showed great coldness when talking about himself, drawing a lot of attention from his classmates and his teacher.
The first training of Team 7 together is to catch two bells that are in Kakashi’s possession, Sasuke was the one who came closest to catching a bell, but he couldn’t. At the end of the test Kakashi reveals the objective of the test: to make the team work as a group, something they did at the end of the exercise, and finally they officially form Team Kakashi.
Once the team has brought the cat Tora back to a feudal lord’s wife, Naruto protests to receive a “C” level mission. Then the Third Hokage accepts Naruto’s words and sends Team 7 to escort Tazuna, a bridge-builder, to the poor Wave Country. This mission starts out simple, but turns out to be an “A” level mission when they discover that there is a dangerous group, led by Gatō, after Tazuna to kill him.
After leaving Konoha, the Kakashi Team encounters several ninjas from Kirigakure. Including the Demon Brothers who attack the bridge builder, but he is saved by Sasuke and soon after, the Demon Brothers are defeated by Kakashi. Later, they meet a dangerous nukenin from Kirigakure, Zabuza Momochi. The fight between Team 7 against Zabuza begins, in which Kakashi reveals obtaining the Sharingan and leaves Sasuke impressed. Sasuke fights alongside Naruto and Kakashi to defeat Zabuza, however, Zabuza is removed from the battlefield after being played dead by Haku. Time later, Team Kakashi and Tazuna arrive in the Land of Waves and stay at the builder’s house, where they meet Inari, a boy who does not believe in heroes and soon argues with Naruto, until they learn about the true history of the people of the Land of Waves. Although he was still recovering from his last fight against Zabuza, Kakashi takes his students to a training where they must climb a tree using their feet and their own Chakra. Sakura quickly completes the training, meanwhile Naruto and Sasuke spent nights out training and competing to see who could complete the training first.
One day when Tazuna was building the bridge a mysterious mist appears where Team 7 meets Zabuza again, and this time accompanied by Haku, Sasuke fights Haku while Kakashi fights Zabuza. At the very beginning of their battle, Sasuke has a very hard time defeating Haku, until the latter traps Sasuke in a special jutsu, the Demonic Ice Crystal Mirrors. In this fight Naruto appears and ends up being trapped in Haku’s jutsu along with Sasuke.
After many attempts, and even having used the Sharingan, Sasuke falls passed out on the ground, since he was very overwhelmed and very injured, seeing his colleague’s situation, Naruto awakens the Chakra of Kyūbi and defeats Haku, then Haku commits suicide to save Zabuza, but Zabuza also ends up dead. After an intense battle, Sasuke wakes up and is soon greeted with a hug from Sakura. Soon after the bridge is built and the people of the Wave Country are free of Gatō’s threats, the Kakashi Team returns to Konoha.
Chūnin Exams
Before the Chūnin Exams begin, Sasuke personally saw some of his opponents during the Chūnin Exam, including: Gaara, Neji Hyūga and Rock Lee, leaving Sasuke looking forward to the Exam fights. Before Team 7 entered the exam to hold the first test, Sasuke was challenged by Rock Lee, who easily overcame the power of his Sharingan through incredible speed and competence in Taijutsu. However, when Lee was about to perform the final blow, Might Guy interrupted the fight and punished his student for using a forbidden taijutsu in a normal fight.
In the first part of the Chūnin Exam, where students were actually supposed to use their skills to collect information and thus pass, Sasuke used his Sharingan to copy the movements of a student in front of him and effectively copy the answers. At the end of the first phase, Team Kakashi is approved.
In the second test of the Chūnin Exam, inside the Forest of Death, Team 7 was attacked by Orochimaru, who was disguised as Shiore, but who soon showed his real face. Recognizing that they were no match for Orochimaru, Sasuke tried to surrender, handing over the scroll he had, which was needed to complete the test. However, Naruto stopped him by attacking Orochimaru, then the Uzumaki boy insults Sasuke for his strength.
This spurred Sasuke to enter the fight again, giving him the will to defeat Orochimaru. Impressed by his opponent’s power, Orochimaru placed his Juin on Sasuke’s neck during the battle indicating a reward. Sasuke felt so much pain, due to the Juin, that he fell unconscious. And Orochimaru ends up escaping. With the seal in tune with his body, he had nightmares and when he woke up, he was covered by the immense power of Juin. Immediately, he saved Sakura from the opposing team, easily defeating them and going so far as to break Zaku’s arm. Recognizing that the Cursed Seal had apparently corrupted him, Sakura hugged him and asked him to stop it. He gave in, and the seal subsided.
Sasuke was surprised by his own sudden burst of strength. In Naruto Shippūden it was revealed that Sasuke, at some point in the second trial, saved Karin from a bear with his Shishi Rendan. Later, Team 7 had the help of Kabuto Yakushi going through the second round of the Chūnin Exam.
Thus began the Preliminary Matches, to select the Genin who would go on to the third and final test of the Exam. Sasuke was chosen to fight Yoroi Akadō. Before the fight began, Kakashi warned that if his Juin went out of control, he would stop the fight and Sasuke would be eliminated. The match begins, and Yoroi uses his Kyūinjutsu, absorbing Sasuke’s Chakra and causing constant pain in his cursed seal. Having only one option, and remembering his previous fight against Rock Lee, Sasuke used the Shishi Rendan. Yoroi was knocked out, and Sasuke advanced to the final rounds.
After his victory, Kakashi took Sasuke outside to seal the cursed seal, but made a point of telling him that the seal would only remain active as long as Sasuke wanted it to. Not being convinced that his words would stop Sasuke from using the Cursed Seal, and Orochimaru, as a source of power, Kakashi used the month leading up to the final rounds to teach him Chidori. At the same time, knowing that Sasuke would be facing Gaara, he helped Sasuke use some of Lee’s speeds. After showing himself late for the fight with Gaara, Sasuke demonstrated the fruits of his training, even managing to break through Gaara’s defenses and hurt him. Before the battle was over, however, it was interrupted by the beginning of Orochimaru’s attack on Konoha.
Crushing of Konoha
As the invasion began, Gaara fled the village with his brothers, and Sasuke was sent by Genma to go after them. Sasuke pursued them, and after close-range battles against Kankurō and Temari, Sasuke catches up with Gaara and begins a battle against him. Sasuke uses Chidori, to injure Gaara, who had already begun his Ichibi transformation into Shukaku, but was still halfway through the transformation.
Gaara quickly recovered from the attack, putting Sasuke on the defensive, since he no longer had the chakra reserves to use Chidori again. Since Gaara was about to kill him, Sasuke had no choice but to activate Juin in order to use another Chidori. However, this one had no effect against Gaara, and Sasuke was exhausted. Unable to move, Sasuke was saved by the quick arrival of Sakura and Naruto. Sasuke stood watching Naruto’s fight against Gaara, where Naruto used Kuchiyose no Jutsu invoking Gamabunta and other new techniques. In the end, Naruto wins the fight against Gaara, and Sasuke becomes jealous that his colleague is becoming stronger than him more and more.
Search for Tsunade
After Orochimaru’s failed invasion, Sasuke went to see Kakashi. When he arrived at Kakashi’s house, he saw him in a coma. Although none of the Jōnin present there were willing to tell him what had occurred, Aoba Yamashiro appeared and asked the others if it was true that Itachi Uchiha had returned to Konoha in search of Naruto. Determined to find Itachi and save Naruto, Sasuke discovered the location they were in and fought his brother. Despite his best efforts, including Chidori, none of his attacks were able to hit Itachi. Itachi Uchiha physically and mentally torments Sasuke, belittling him for still being too weak, then Itachi activates Tsukuyomi and leaves Sasuke in the same comatose state as Kakashi. Sasuke remained in this state until Tsunade’s return to Konohagakure.
Sasuke’s Recovery Mission
Angry at the knowledge that Itachi was still too strong for him, and jealous of the fact that Naruto had gotten stronger in such a short period of time, Sasuke challenges Naruto in a fight, in the hospital. Although they were stopped, their brief fight was enough to show that Naruto’s Rasengan was more damaging than Sasuke’s Chidori. Later, still thinking about this matter of getting stronger, Sasuke is confronted by the Sound Quartet, each of whom had their own Juin. Impressed by the enemies’ abilities, which they claimed to receive from Orochimaru, made Sasuke think better of the offer to join Orochimaru to become his pupil and thus become stronger.
To gain the power he so desperately wanted, Sasuke decided to join Orochimaru, thus sneaking out of Konoha one night. However, during his exit, Sasuke is found by Sakura, who insists that he stay in Konoha, claiming that she could help him in his revenge, as long as he stays on her side. Sakura’s words, however, were not enough to stop Sasuke. Thus, he appears behind Sakura, and strikes a blow at her, at the same time speaking “Sakura…thank you”. Next, Sasuke appears along with the Sound Quartet, preparing to be taken to Orochimaru’s hiding place. Later, inside a forest, the Sound Quartet forms the Four Black Mist Formation, which holds Sasuke in a barrel form for him to enter the second stage of Juin. Meanwhile, in Konoha, Sakura warns the Godaime Hokage about Sasuke’s escape, causing Team Shikamaru to form.
Soon after a good while, where Team Shikamaru is completely separated to fight the members of the Sound Quartet, Naruto manages to catch up with Sasuke, in the Valley of the End, at the borders of the Land of Fire and the Land of Rice Fields. As Sasuke was determined to kill Naruto to go meet with Orochimaru and to get the Mangekyou Sharingan, Naruto knew that he had to fight seio to get Sasuke back to Konoha. Sasuke manages to reach his limits of strength, even completing his Sharingan.
Naruto then releases his chakra from the Kyūbi forming a tail. Seeing this enormous amount of power in Naruto, Sasuke finds it necessary to release his Juin to the second level. In a final attack, Naruto’s Rasengan attack and Sasuke’s Chidori collide, creating an impact and forming a sphere of power between the two. Naruto only manages to make a scratch on Sasuke’s bandana, as Sasuke punches Naruto. Naruto leaves a scratch on Sasuke’s bandana, but is unable to stop Sasuke from going his way, choosing to leave Naruto alive and not follow in his brother’s footsteps of killing his best friend, following through to Orochimaru, without getting the Mangekyou Sharingan.
Interlude
Following in Naruto’s Footsteps: The Paths of Friends
In the anime, about two years into his training with Orochimaru, Sasuke volunteered to deliver some research material to one of Orochimaru’s hideouts. While there, Sasuke releases one of Orochimaru’s guinea pigs, Suigetsu Hōzuki, from his prisons, and then helps Karin capture Suigetsu once again. Satisfied with what he witnesses of their abilities, Sasuke decides to conquer them so that he can have them as allies in the future.
Part. II
Tenchi Bridge Reconnaissance Mission
Sasuke debuted in Naruto Shippūden during a meeting with his master and his replacement on Team Kakashi, Sai. However, Sasuke was only interested in his training. When Sai says that he could live better with Sasuke than with Naruto, Sasuke froze him with his gaze, catching Sai in a genjutsu, exuding a large amount of killing intent.
Sai was surprised, for even though he was a person without feelings, he was affected by Sasuke’s gaze, showing the power of his Sharingan. When Sai commented on how Naruto and Sakura were looking for him, Sasuke once again regarded him with indifference.
Later, when Sai entered his room while he was resting, he told Sasuke that he wanted to mend Sasuke’s ties with Naruto. Sasuke then explodes his room, angry. The explosion draws the attention of Naruto, Sakura and Yamato to Sasuke’s location.
Although this was the first time in three that they had seen each other, Sasuke expressed his usual indifference towards his former teammates. Uninterested in returning home with them, Sasuke engages them in battle, showing his greater speed and better skills. The new Kakashi Team were no match for him, causing Naruto to even use the chakra of his inner Kyūbi.
Sasuke used his Sharingan to enter Naruto’s mind to attend to the Kyūbi no Yōko, and finally discover the source of Naruto’s strength, and in order to suppress its influence. Before releasing Naruto, the Kyūbi warns Sasuke not to kill the Uzumaki, or he would live in regret forever. Out of Naruto’s mind, Sasuke decided to finish off his opponents for good, making a move suspiciously for a powerful technique, however he is stopped by Orochimaru. He heard Orochimaru’s plans regarding the Akatsuki, and finally disappeared with Orochimaru and Kabuto with the help of the Body Flicker Technique. Forcing the Kakashi Team to return home unsuccessfully on their mission.
Itachi Pursuit Mission
Orochimaru tests Sasuke’s abilities by putting him to fight hundreds of sound ninjas, a task that the young Uchiha finished without a scratch and without killing any of them. Sasuke observed that the only person he wanted to kill was Itachi. Some time later, Sasuke attacked Orochimaru, deciding that there was nothing more he could learn from the Sannin of snakes and that Orochimaru was no longer worthy of having his body.
Orochimaru then tried to take over Sasuke’s body, but with the help of his Juin, the latter managed to reverse the process, absorbing Orochimaru into his body and coming out victorious in this fight.
With the “death” of Orochimaru, Sasuke decided to recruit subordinates and some ninja used in Orochimaru’s experiments to form a team to help him find and kill Itachi Uchiha. He recruited Suigetsu Hōzuki, Karin, and Jūgo, each with their own skills, and naming the group Team Hebi.
After the Hebi was formed, Sasuke divided the members so that they could discover Itachi’s whereabouts. During the search, Sasuke was found by Deidara and Tobi. Using his Sharingan, Sasuke was able to predict most of Deidara’s attacks, causing him to go insane with hatred towards the Sharingan, an ability capable of defeating his art.
As a last attempt, Deidara uses C0 to kill Sasuke and commits suicide. However, Manda is summoned to protect Sasuke from the explosion, at the cost of the serpent’s life.
Predestined Battle Between Brothers
After recovering from his injuries, Sasuke and the Hebi Team continue their search in one of the Akatsuki’s hideouts, where Sasuke encounters a raven clone of Itachi who says that they will have their final fight in the Abandoned Uchiha Fortress, leaving the rest of the Hebi behind along with Kisame Hoshigaki.
Once inside the Uchiha hideout, Itachi told Sasuke the history of the Uchiha Clan, Madara Uchiha and the powers of the Sharingan. When he was done, the brothers first fought in a genjutsu battle, and in the end, Sasuke emerged victorious after being able to repel the effects of his brother’s Tsukuyomi. The two then moved on to a ninjutsu battle.
During this battle, Itachi initiated the burning area of Amaterasu and nearly burned Sasuke. Sasuke, however, managed to survive using one of Orochimaru’s techniques and Itachi, is surprised by his giant Raiton jutsu, the Kirin. Itachi survived only by his use of the Mangekyou Sharingan’s third and final technique, Susanoo.
Having used a lot of chakra with the Kirin, Sasuke was at the mercy of being defeated by Itachi, until Orochimaru violently reappears via Yamata no Jutsu in a final attempt to take Sasuke’s body for himself. Itachi, however, sealed Orochimaru in a permanent Susanoo genjutsu.
Despite being very weak and wounded, Itachi walks towards Sasuke, and as he gets close to his younger brother, he touches his brother’s forehead with his finger. Itachi then falls dead to the ground in front of his brother. Sasuke passes out from exhaustion moments later, standing next to Itachi’s body. Sasuke wakes up in a cave under the care of Tobi, who says he is Madara uchiha.
Tobi tries to befriend Sasuke by removing his mask and revealing his Sharingan, which caused Itachi’s Mangekyou Sharingan to form in Sasuke’s left eye and then activating Amaterasu on Tobi, who quickly retreats into the darkness of the cave. After avoiding the black flames, Tobi reappears again with his mask and begins to speculate about how Itachi never failed to surprise him.
As Sasuke asked what he was talking about, Tobi revealed that Itachi had set up his vision from his Sharingan that would activate Amaterasu immediately on Tobi as soon as he saw his opponent’s Sharingan. As Sasuke complained that this wasn’t making sense,
Tobi revealed that this had been to protect him, and Sasuke still didn’t believe him, Tobi said how crazy it all sounded, but assured him that he was telling the truth, and introduced himself as the man who helped Itachi in the Uchiha Clan Massacre. Tobi revealed to Sasuke the “truth” of Itachi, that he killed his clan on orders from Konoha and that he joined the Akatsuki to make sure the elders didn’t forget about him, and as an end, his only goal was to keep his village and his younger brother safe. And that all he did was to make Sasuke become strong.
Remembering his childhood and how Itachi really was, a good brother, Sasuke developed his own Mangekyou Sharingan. Later, he renamed Team Hebi as Team Taka and vowed that he would destroy Konoha after crying over the memories of his beloved older brother.
Pain’s Attack
Team Taka now aims to attack Konoha, however Tobi convinces them to start working with Akatsuki. He sends them to the Lightning Country to capture Hachibi, who is sealed in Killer B, his Jinchūriki. The capture attempt got off to a bad start, as Killer B easily defeated Suigetsu and Jūgo, where else he fought Sasuke alone and struck several swords into his body.
But Sasuke was rescued and healed by Karin, and the team decided to attack all together at once. When it was finally succeeding, Killer B released a large amount of Hachibi’s chakra, creating a chakra cloak. In one attack, Sasuke trapped the jinchūriki in a genjutsu, however, Killer B fought back using the Lariat, with the help of the Hachibi, striking and severely wounding Sasuke’s neck and causing him to fly away.
While Sasuke was injured, Killer B fully transformed into the Eight-tailed Bijū, leaving Team Taka at a disadvantage. Suigetsu then sacrificed himself to give Jūgo time to heal Sasuke and then his teammates to escape. After Suigetsu is targeted by Imari, and Jūgo and Karin are totally weak, Sasuke activates Amaterasu from his Mangekyou Sharingan to affect Hachibi and then capture his Jinchūriki. Sai later comes to state that due to this incident, Sasuke would never be accepted as a citizen of Konoha again.
Sasuke delivers Killer B to Tobi (though Tobi later discovers that it was a fake body) before joining up with Team Taka. When they were resting, they dealt with a ninja from Kumogakure who was accompanying them. Some time later, Sasuke discovered that his eyesight was already beginning to deteriorate. He chose to keep this revelation a secret.
Five Kage Summit
Once recovered if their fight against Killer B, Team Taka heads towards Konoha, but are intercepted by Tobi. He informed Taka about the destruction in Konoha done by Pain and Taka’s failure to capture Hachibi.
Tobi also told them that Danzō has become the sixth Hokage and that he is going to the Five Kage Meeting. Team Taka was taken to the Iron Country, where the Kage meeting will be held, by Zetsu.
Taka managed to infiltrate the meeting undetected, but his cover was blown by Zetsu, on Tobi’s orders. Forced out of hiding, Sasuke engaged the samurai guards and killed them, despite his previously spoken non-strict kill policy, revealing the depths to which he had fallen into darkness.
The Fourth Raikage, still under the impression that Sasuke had killed his younger brother, Killer B, confronted Taka, along with his companions. The fight was broken up by the Fifth Kazekage and his escorts, but not before the Raikage lost an arm and Sasuke was nearly exhausted.
After seeing how dark Sasuke had become, the Kazekage continued the fight, but Sasuke used his Susanoo to create a distraction and fled with Karin, leaving Suigetsu and Jūgo to fend for themselves.
Karin guides Sasuke to the room where the meeting was held, but before he could find Danzō, Sasuke was confronted by Mifune. However, Danzō managed to escape, but the Fifth Mizukage stopped Sasuke from following him. Sasuke was ready to be killed by her, but had with the help of Zetsu’s Hōshi no Jutsu.
He escaped from the Mizukage, only to be confronted by the Third Tsuchikage. He was only poorly guarded by Tobi, who pulled him and Karin into another dimension with his Sharingan, where Karin nursed Sasuke back to health.
Tobi put Sasuke in front of Danzō. Sasuke, overcome by his desire for revenge, had his Susanoo evolve and strike fire arrows at the enemy. Danzō, using Izanagi, avoids fatal injuries and compares Sasuke to Itachi all the time.
Each determined to kill the other, they clash again, Danzō relying on Izanagi to save him. Sasuke, however, used a genjutsu creating the illusion that Izanagi was still active, allowing him to mortally wound Danzō. Danzō takes Karin hostage in an attempt to buy time, but Sasuke did not hesitate to fatally wound Karin in order to finish off Danzō.
With his revenge against Danzō fulfilled, Sasuke declared his plans to go to Konoha. However, Tobi saw how exhausted and nearly blind Sasuke was. He also told Sasuke to kill Karin if she was no longer of any use, before leaving.
Just as Sasuke was about to kill Karin, Sakura suddenly appeared and interrupted. She told him that she was willing to follow him, even if it meant abandonment and even destroying Konoha. Sasuke was skeptical and told Sakura to kill Karin to prove that she was sincere.
However, as Sakura hesitated, Sasuke tried to kill her with his Chidori, only to be interrupted by Kakashi. Sasuke laughs at her continued attempts to convince him to return to Konoha and Kakashi attacks, intending to kill him. Taking Kakashi’s attempt to remind him about his former Konoha comrades as an insult to Itachi, then Sasuke’s Susanoo gained a layer of armor.
However, this form was short-lived, as Sasuke’s vision immediately deteriorates to the point where he sees a blurred haze at best, and Sakura takes the opportunity to attempt to assassinate him.

However, this form was short-lived, as Sasuke’s vision immediately deteriorates to the point where he sees a blurred haze at best, and Sakura takes the opportunity to attempt to assassinate him.
Sakura realizes that she cannot kill Sasuke. Despite being almost blind Sasuke senses Sakura’s presence and almost kills her, but she is saved by Naruto. Naruto sympathizes with Sasuke’s motives, to which Sasuke cynically counters with his pleasure of revenge, as well as revealing the crime of murdering Danzō.
When Naruto restrains Kakashi to keep him from killing Sasuke, Sasuke uses this opportunity to try once again to kill Kakashi with Chidori, but Naruto goes on the attack with his Rasengan. As the two collide, he tells Naruto that his options are only to kill or die. Naruto rejects both, stating that he has a third option. As the confrontation sends the two flying back, the white part of Zetsu appears to cushion Sasuke’s fall.
Tobi then appears and prepares to take Sasuke away, but he tells him to wait until he can hear what Naruto has to say, which is that if they fight again, they will both die together. Sasuke then turns to Naruto angrily and asks him to answer why he cares so much about him, to which Naruto replies that he is doing this because he is his friend, leaving Sasuke shocked.
Despite this unnoticed event, Sasuke firmly states that he refuses to go backwards on the way he walks. Then, before leaving together with Tobi and Zetsu, Sasuke says that they should have a talk.
In his hiding place, Sasuke asks Tobi to replace his eyes with Itachi’s eyes, as his vision has almost disappeared due to his reckless overuse of his Mangekyou Sharingan in the battle of Killer B, A, Danzō Shimura and Team 7 and how he wants to defeat Naruto with full power.
After Itachi’s eye transplant, Tobi claimed that Sasuke would need time to recover from the operation and adjust to the new Mangekyou. Sasuke noted however that it felt perfect and that he could feel Itachi’s energy flowing through him.
Fourth Shinobi World War: Climax
Sasuke is later seen recovering from his surgery, asking Zetsu if he could remove the bandages yet. Zetsu tells him not yet, but when he is done, he will be looking at a new world. Then some time passes, and Sasuke attacks a White Zetsu with his new Susanoo and burns him with the flames of Amaterasu, asks if he should experience the power outside. He takes off the bandage and shows his new Sharingan, and says that the eyes can see well in the dark.
At the Mountain Cemetery, Sasuke walks out, destroying part of the statue, and dressed in his old robes. Later, continuing to walk to the battlefield, Sasuke looks back and smiles menacingly.
Sasuke meets up with some of Zetsu’s clones, saying that he would have already passed through two empty cities, and uses a combination of Susanoo and Amaterasu to destroy many of them. Using genjutsu on one of them, he discovers that Tobi has started a war in order to capture B and Naruto.
Sasuke wonders if Naruto has forgotten what true strength is. Sasuke then releases Zetsu, and decides to go kill Naruto, but first, he kills Zetsu’s last clone using Amaterasu. He then compliments his brother’s eyes, saying that he was getting used to it, and resumes his way to the battlefield.
As he notices something coming through the forest, he takes his sword and goes to investigate, arriving there, he finds his brother, which makes him surprised. Sasuke runs after him and tries to catch him with a Susanoo arm, but he is stopped by Itachi’s Susanoo. When Itachi is identified, Sasuke asks what he is doing if he is supposed to be dead, so Itachi reveals that he was resurrected with the Invocation: Reincarnation of the Impure World.
Sasuke asks Itachi a series of questions, Itachi states that he wouldn’t say anything because he was dead, then, Sasuke says that even in death, he was running away from him. Itachi then tells Sasuke that he was not running away, but was concentrating on doing important tasks like ending the Reincarnation of the Impure World.
Still chasing his brother, who goes so far a flock of crows to blind his brother, however Sasuke manages to chase him to Kabuto’s hideout. After seeing him, Kabuto lets out a maniacal laugh and claims that his luck was changing.
After seeing Kabuto’s form, Sasuke mistakes him for Orochimaru, but after hearing Kabuto’s voice, he realizes that it was Kabuto. Kabuto tries to get Sasuke to help him defeat Itachi, however, Sasuke says he was there to talk to his brother. When Kabuto asks which side Sasuke was on, Sasuke throws shuriken in his direction, but Itachi deflects, saying that, they had to defeat Kabuto, but not kill him.
Sasuke asks if Itachi would actually do what he said, since previously, he would say “after” and never do it, so Itachi replies that a person’s nature stays with them until they die, but since he was already dead, he would comply.
As Kabuto covers his face entirely claiming that he was too shy, Sasuke surmises that it is because he wanted to protect himself from his and Itachi’s Genjutsu. Sasuke informs his brother of some of the snakes’ abilities, he watches intently as Kabuto’s snakes grow in size and attacks them. Activating his Susanoo alongside Itachi, he decapitates the snakes that attacked them.
As Itachi tells him not to be so rude, Sasuke tells his brother that with Orochimaru’s powers it was going to take longer than that to kill him. After Kabuto manages to escape from them, Sasuke hears Kabuto saying that the experiences with his former teammates had allowed him to acquire new abilities. He then fires an arrow at Kabuto who deflects, Sasuke sees Kabuto emerge from the mouth of one of the snakes and declares that after finding the Ryūchi Cave and learning Hakuja Sennin’s Sage Mode, he had transcended into a dragon.
As soon as Kabuto begins his technique, Sasuke covers his ears and closes his eyes in pain, realizing that he cannot maintain his Susanoo. As soon as the technique ends, he opens his eyes and sees Itachi’s Susanoo protecting him. As soon as Kabuto vainly tries to put doubt and distrust between the brothers, Sasuke tries to attack him with his Sharp Chidori Spear, but fails.
As soon as Kabuto says that a mismatched pair like them couldn’t stop him, Itachi tells him that they would attack as they both once did against a wild boar. Forming the arrows from his Susanoo, Sasuke managed to hit Kabuto’s snake tail, effectively nailing him to the ceiling of the cave. He then realizes that Kabuto was moving to use his discarded sword to apparently cut off his tail.
Itachi prevents this, being attacked, yet escaping unharmed and returning to his brother’s side. He states that beating a big pig like that was probably no problem for him now, and Sasuke retorts saying that dealing with the snake before them was a more pressing matter.
Noticing the strong teamwork between the two brothers, Kabuto admits that he was surprised by it. Sasuke explains that he just wants to know the truth from Itachi’s own mouth. Realizing that Sasuke has heard about Itachi’s secret, Kabuto goes on to say that it is foolish Sasuke is helping Itachi when their personal goals are so different; Itachi is trying to protect Konoha, while Sasuke wants to destroy it. Remembering that he and Sasuke share similar goals of destroying Konoha, Kabuto again tries to convince Sasuke to join him.
Ultimately, Itachi tells Sasuke not to listen to Kabuto, since he is a better liar than he is. Itachi then admits the dark side of Konoha, but still firmly considers himself a Konoha ninja, which leaves Sasuke shocked. Admitting his own shortcomings of how Sasuke ended up, Itachi promises to tell him something improtant after the battle, that he intends to end “Izanami”, the paired technique of ” izanagi “. With Kabuto’s attacks, Itachi blocks them, telling Sasuke that the technique has already started and for him to stay close to him.
As Kabuto attacks again, this time incapacitating Itachi, Sasuke creates a ring of Amaterasu around himself and his brother in order to prevent Kabuto from getting any closer. As Kabuto mocks the Uchiha, Sasuke attacks him, but is interrupted by the now regenerated Itachi. Impatient, Sasuke questions Itachi if they really can’t kill him, since Kabuto had the upper hand.
Seeing that Kabuto was prepared to attack once again, he asks Itachi again if the Izanami was ready yet. As his Amaterasu shield is broken when Kabuto makes use of Jirōbō -which emerged from the base of his belly-, the two brothers burn the web of the attack produced by Kidōmaru. With no time to counterattack, Kabuto produces Kimimaro to prevent his exit with bones and more webs.
Realizing they were trapped, the brothers activate their Susanoo, and Sasuke uses his Flame Style: Kagutsuchi to destroy the web that was in front of them again. Retreating further into the cave, the brothers are hit by Tayuya’s auditory genjutsu. Using their own genjutsu to break her genjutsu, the brothers are able to stop Orochimaru’s white snake form attacking them. However, Kabuto uses this opportunity to get out of the snake’s mouth and cuts Itachi in half, much to Sasuke’s horror.
As Kabuto tries to reassert his control over Itachi again with his seal, Sasuke intervenes, throwing his sword at Kabuto and using his Susanoo in an attempt to capture him, forcing Kabuto to retreat. Sasuke then launches a fireball at Kabuto, only for Kabuto to easily meet it with a strong stream of water.
As Kabuto then redirects his attention to Itachi, Sasuke runs to his brother’s side, where Itachi once again tells him to stay close to him. Sasuke then watches as Kabuto and Itachi seem to repeatedly collide in the same manner. He then realizes that Itachi’s Izanami is finally active, forcing Kabuto to repeat the same series of events with the same result all the time.
Taking the opportunity to question his brother about the technique, Itachi explained the mechanism behind Izanami and when it was and is used. Apparently annoyed when Itachi told him why he used a technique that could be cancelled by the victim, Sasuke listens to Itachi’s explanation of his reasons for doing such a thing and soon after, Itachi says that he would now stop the Impure World Reincarnation.
Expressing his apprehension at first when he hears this as it meant that Itachi would also disappear once the technique was cancelled, Sasuke reacts angrily to the statement that Itachi was proud to be able to protect his village and stating that after all the village had done to Itachi, there was no way to forgive them. Sasuke is later both shocked and confused after Itachi’s response that he was stopping the technique in order to help Naruto’s desire to change Sasuke.
Admitting the fact that he could not change his brother’s mind, Sasuke told Itachi that it was because he remembered his time with Itachi that he would not give up his revenge against Konoha and just as Itachi strived to protect it, he wanted to destroy it.
With that, he wished his farewell to his brother before noticing Itachi walking towards him with his index and middle fingers outstretched. Itachi then explains to Sasuke that what Tobi and Danzō had told him, is true: he was given the choice, to die along with his clan or kill the Uchiha, protecting the village and Sasuke. Itachi comes to Sasuke and places his hand on the back of Sasuke’s head and his forehead on his, telling him that he knows he cannot change Sasuke’s mind, but that no matter which path he chose, he would love Sasuke forever. Sasuke then sees his brother’s soul being released from Invocation: Reincarnation of the Impure World, leaving him with Kabuto.
Sasuke begins to question what a village is, and what shinobi are. After that, Suigetsu and Jūgo find him, and give him the scroll found in Orochimaru’s hiding place. When he reads it, he declares that he will find the man who knows everything by first going to find Orochimaru.
To this end, he used Anko’s Cursed Sky Seal, along with a piece of Kabuto’s flesh, to revive Orochimaru, ignoring Suigetsu’s protests. After reviving him, Sasuke shows the scroll to Orochimaru, making him think that Sasuke wanted to know about “him”.
Tired of being treated like a child by everyone, Sasuke was determined to find the truth of the past in order to find his own way. Although he insisted that he had not forgotten his desire for revenge, he stated that he wants to know what the idea of revenge really meant to him, in order to know if this is really his decision. Intrigued by how much Sasuke had changed, Orochimaru takes Sasuke to a familiar place in Konoha, where he will find his answers.
Following the Sannin, they arrive in Konoha where they briefly feel the volume of Naruto Uzumaki’s chakra. Despite feeling a bit uncomfortable about it, Sasuke tells the group to continue their journey, which leads them to a temple on the outskirts of the village that had fallen into ruins.
Retrieving a mask from there, Sasuke follows Orochimaru through the village where he stops and goes to a higher vantage point to observe the village, noting that it had changed a bit. With no time to waste on his feelings, Sasuke proceeds to the Naka Shrine that was destroyed and no longer hiding the hidden meeting room below the temple.
Once there, Orochimaru begins the ritual, to open the Shinigami’s stomach using the spores of the White Zetsu clone that had been attached to Sasuke as sacrifices to reincarnate those who knew everything: the last four Hokage. He begins by introducing himself to the Hokage before asking the third why he had ordered Itachi to do such a thing only to have Hiruzen confirm everything he had been told before. The conversation segues into a conversation about the Uchiha, where the Second Hokage tells Sasuke that they were a clan possessed by evil.
He reveals how the Sharingan is actually awakened, and how an Uchiha who has a serious emotional loss ends up getting deeper and deeper into darkness and becoming more and more powerful, and in his attempt to help channel the strength of the Uchiha to become something useful to Konoha, thus creating the Konoha Police, but ended up destroying themselves for the good of the village. Despite being scolded for this by the First Hokage, Sasuke tells them that he was neither pure nor a child, and asks the latter: what is a village and what is the purpose of a shinobi.
After Hashirama finishes telling his story, Sasuke comments that it was ironic that the person who had inherited Hashairama’s will was an Uchiha. Tobirama, however, corrects the young Uchiha, noting that Itachi was not the only one, but that there were many others who transcended the limitations of thinking only of the welfare of the Uchiha, saying that Kagami, a former subordinate of his, was a prime example of this.
After hearing all he needed from the Hokage including the Third and Fourth, Sasuke decides to protect the sacrifice his brother had made and says he will go to the battlefield. Upon leaving the Naka Shrine they are confronted by Karin, to which Sasuke simply apologizes for what he had done. With that, everyone prepares to go to the battlefield.
Arriving on the battlefield, Sasuke’s presence shocks Sakura and Shikamaru, while angering Kiba, as well as surprising the rest of the Konoha 11. After saying that his former comrades were still noisy, Sasuke earns nothing but their contempt for his past actions. After declaring that he will change the village and become Hokage so that incidents like these would never be repeated, everyone is visibly shocked.
Shikamaru notes that this would be impossible, given what he has done, but Sasuke ignores the comment, noting that he doesn’t care what they think. Naruto, remembering Itachi’s last words to him about how the village needs to recognize him before he can be Hokage, intervenes and corrects Sasuke, reminding him that he, Naruto, is the one who will become Hokage. Sasuke and Naruto then prepare to face Ten-Tails, being closely followed by Sakura. With that, the three ninja then prepare to enter the fray with Naruto saying that Team 7 is back.
When Hashirama creates small openings in the barrier that held Ten-Caudas, Sasuke leaves to face him along with his former teammates. Later, Sasuke saves Sakura from the Ten-Caudas’ Killer Clones that approached her and tells Naruto not to stand in her way. After Sai says that Naruto should get as close to Ten-Caudas’ actual body as possible, Sasuke, Sakura and Naruto simultaneously summon their respective creatures, with Sasuke summoning a giant snake named Aoda alongside Katsuyu and Gamakichi.
He then sends Aoda slithering between the Ten-Cauda clones and uses his Susanoo to launch the Flame Style: Susanoo Kagutsuchi, which combines with Naruto’s Wind Style: Ultra-Great Rasenshuriken Ball. After that, he commands the flames of Amaterasu to burn the Ten-Caudas, while Sai asks Jūgo if Sasuke was serious about his promise to become Hokage.
Naruto then tells Sasuke to put out the flames when Ten-Caudas becomes weak enough that he can pull the bijū out of his body, however, Sasuke refuses, saying that he will do away with the “distorted system” and create a new one. Later, he watches in surprise alongside Minato and Naruto as Obito becomes jinchūriki of the Ten-Caudas.
Birth of the Ten-Tails Jinchūriki
Sasuke is shocked to witness Obito cut down the Shodai and Nidaime Hokage so easily. When Naruto questions his father about why he couldn’t prevent Obito from attacking the Sandaime, Sasuke tells him to stop worrying because it was part of the Hokage’s plan to determine Obito’s new abilities couldn’t die because they were reincarnated. Sasuke later intercepts Obito’s attack on Naruto with his Susanoo and declares that he would be the one to erase the past. However, Obito manages to break through the Susanoo and attack Sasuke and Naruto.
With Minato unable to teleport to help them, as the marking of his Flying Thunder God Technique had apparently disappeared, Sasuke is saved by Naruto’s quick thinking who manages to save them both from Obito’s attack. Remembering that Minato had said about how the Flying God of Thunder Technique works, Sasuke realizes that Naruto had latched onto Minato through the use of his chakra arms, allowing him to be able to teleport them to safety.
Sasuke then watches as the event unfolds on the battlefield, and under Minato’s orders he prepares to launch a collaborative attack with Naruto after Minato attacks Obito. During this time, when Minato is attacked by Obito, Sasuke scolds Naruto, reminding him that they need to keep their focus. Later, he looks on in shock when a ball of Obito’s mysterious substance gets stuck in Minato and begins to expand, threatening to wipe them all out. Sasuke manifests his Susanoo and protects Naruto, however, they are saved by Tobirama who teleports the sphere away from them.
He and Naruto later launch their counterattack against Obito by forming another Rasenshuriken infused with the Kagutsuchi. When they attack, Minato teleports in front of them to take the blow of the technique, Minato then along with Tobirama use the Goshun Mawashi no Jutsu to create a surprise attack on the new jinchūriki.
Despite believing that the attack had worked initially, they are all shocked to see Obito emerge from the attack unharmed. They rushed forward, Sasuke noting that Obito was not going to be easy to defeat. With his strategy readjusted, Naruto informs Sasuke that he was going to go all out again and asked if he would be able to keep up with him, Sasuke tells him not to underestimate an Uchiha.
Watching as Obito tries to deflect Gamakichi’s Starch Syrup Gun, Sasuke then watches in shock as Naruto was able to attack Obito, wondering how he had managed this. Hearing Naruto’s explanation of the situation, Sasuke realized that he meant that only senjutsu could counter the Jūbi and his Jinchūriki, the young Uchiha then watched Obito trap them in a barrier and prepare several Bijūdama.
When the situation gets even more dire, Sasuke agreed with Jūgo and said that he was going and would lead them and Naruto out of the encirclement. However, Naruto rejects his idea and insists they get closer so he could pass the chakra, Sasuke and the others soon found themselves outside the barrier where the attack had been launched.
Sasuke looked on in astonishment, Naruto explained what had happened and the Uchiha realizes that they had once again used the basic principle of the Flying Thunder God Technique to teleport them to the outside of the barrier. Watching the battle evolve with Naruto and Minato at the front, Sasuke silently wonders how Naruto could so easily control a large volume of chakra, and contemplated how far his childhood companion had come. Sasuke then watches Obito manifest the Jūbi and have it assume its final form: the Divine Tree, and Obito continues with the Moon Eye Plan.
When countless shinobi begin to have their chakra drained, leaving everyone filled with despair, Hashirama asks Ino Yamanaka to telepathically connect everyone so that he can pass on the information his original self had heard about Shinju and the Moon Eye Plan and try to encourage them to keep fighting. When Hashirama’s words fail to inspire the others, Sasuke continues to fight without fear or doubt, using his Susanoo and cutting a branch off the huge tree, shocking everyone.
Calling Naruto, Sasuke asks the young man if he can still continue fighting, saying that he had just begun. Through Ino’s telepathic link, Naruto’s emotions and memories are transmitted to everyone, leading the young Uchiha to sympathize with Itachi’s loss. Sasuke, with his Susanoo complete, joins Naruto for a new attack.
After Naruto informs Sasuke not to forget that only senjutsu works against Obito, Sasuke says that he is not quick to forget, unlike Naruto. With this statement, Sasuke asks Jūgo to use the senjutsu chakra from his Sage Transformation on his Susanoo, which encompasses Sasuke’s entire Susanoo with the marks of the Cursed Seal of Heaven.
Sasuke and Naruto then continue to attack Obito, who once again uses the Spheres of the Path of Truth to help protect himself from the attack. In conjunction with Naruto’s senjustsu-enhanced Bijūdama, Sasuke fires a senjutsu-enhanced arrow at Obito.
Sasuke and Naruto are displeased to see that their combined technique does not harm Obito, as he has surrounded himself in a sphere formed from the Spheres of the Path of Truth. The battle continues, resulting with Sasuke’s Susanoo and Naruto’s Bijū Mōdo being destroyed.
However, Sasuke and Naruto rise again, their resolve unshaken. Standing beside his companion, he says that they will end the battle with their next attack, to which Naruto agrees. With that, Sasuke manifests his final Susanoo, which begins to cover Naruto’s Bijū mode cloak.
After Sasuke’s Susanoo fully covers Naruto’s Bijū Mōdo mantle, Sasuke manifests the Susanoo sword. Realizing their powerful combination, Obito manifests a huge shield and the sword of Nunoboko, preparing to fight the two young shinobi. After saying that they would defeat Obito, Sasuke and Naruto leave for battle.
When the 11 from Konoha destroy the shield, Sasuke uses his Susanoo sword, breaking Obito’s legendary weapon. With his sword destroyed, Sasuke and Naruto are able to overcome Obito with the senjutsu-enhanced Susanoo sword. Due to the success of Sasuke and Naruto’s attack, Obito begins to lose control of the Bijū and Naruto begins to pull the Bijū chakra from Obito.
Sasuke, along with the rest of the Allied Forces, then watch Naruto wage a major chakra tug-of-war against Obito, eventually succeeding in extracting the Bijū from him. As Obito becomes exhausted and helpless, Sasuke draws his sword and quickly sets off to kill him, only for Kakashi to teleport in front of Sasuke and prepare to do the same. Kakashi however is stopped by Minato, the Fourth Hokage then tells Naruto to help Hashirama fight Madara, Naruto then tells Sasuke to join him.
Sasuke arrives on the battlefield from atop Sai’s Chōjū Giga, and immediately Sasuke begins incinerating Madara with Amaterasu. However, Madara minimizes Sasuke’s attack and absorbs it. After Madara defeats Naruto and Sai, as well as absorbing the chakra from Hashirama’s Sennin Mōdo, Sasuke attacks Madara violently with his sword.
Madara allows Sasuke to pierce his biceps and takes his sword, as well as offering the young Uchiha the opportunity to join him in the battle against the Allied Forces. However, Sasuke refuses the offer and informs the older Uchiha that he plans to kill him, to which Madara replies that he will take Sasuke’s eyes as a temporary replacement for his lost Rinnegan.
As Naruto and Sai try to help Sasuke in his battle against Madara, the older Uchiha manages to escape with the Fire Style: Dust and Gray Concealment Technique and turns his attention back to the Bijū.
Sasuke summons a falcon to go after Madara, but is interrupted by Hashirama, who offers him a technique that would be able to connect with Madara even with his own senjutsu chakra. Sasuke wonders why he offered this technique to an Uchiha and Hashirama says that he looks like Madara’s brother Izuna, and as such they have the best chance of stopping Madara without resorting to force. Sasuke flies towards Madara, and attacks him, taking advantage of an opening created by Tobirama, who was fighting Madara. However, Madara ends up immobilizing Sasuke in midair, and fatally stabs him with his own sword, despite Tobirama’s pleas.
After Madara abandons the young Uchiha, Sasuke clings to life remembering his determination to honor his brother’s sacrifice, and change the shinobi world for the better. However, Sasuke finally passes out after Madara leaves.
Tobirama and Karin later sadly note that they could no longer sense Sasuke’s chakra. Later, Sasuke is approached by a barefoot individual. The individual turns out to be Kabuto who was able to rediscover himself and thus free himself from Izanami. He chooses to save Sasuke’s life, just as Obito offers to save Naruto’s life, stating that he now knew who he was and where he belonged from and would repay his debt to Itachi for helping him accomplish all of this. Inside Sasuke’s subconscious mind, he meets with the spirit of the Rikudō Sennin, Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki.
He tells Sasuke his family history and reveals that Sasuke is the reincarnation of his eldest son, Indra. Admitting to his own shortcomings as a father and leader, Hagoromo asks Sasuke if he can help him correct his mistakes. After Sasuke tells Hagoromo his goal after the war, the ancient Sage passes half of his energy to Sasuke. Upon waking up, Sasuke prepares to return to battle.
After Sasuke removes Madara’s chakra rods from Tobirama’s body, the latter uses his Flying God of Thunder Technique to send Sasuke to the main battlefield, via Minato’s kunai that was with Naruto. Madara watches in surprise as Sasuke appears next to Naruto, the young Uzumaki then says that he and Sasuke will defeat him together, after Madara tells him that he would not beat him alone.
Sasuke, who awakened the Rinnegan in his left eye after his meeting with Hagoromo, tells Madara to be ready, and the older Uchiha replies that he possesses the powers of both the Rinnegan and the Six Path Senjutsu and that they were about to find out who is the strongest in a final battle.
Madara then proceeds to use his various techniques against the duo, which are defended by Sasuke and Naruto who use their combined powers. As Madara apparently continues to manipulate the targets from afar, Sasuke, with his Rinnegan, is able to see through the farce, discovering that Madara creates an invisible clone to help him.
Realizing that any damage inflicted on the copy would be transferred to Madara, Sasuke stabs him, stopping Madara to regain his composure. Sasuke then explains his analysis to Naruto, and the two then proceed to attack Madara again. Collaborating with Naruto, Sasuke uses an advanced Chidori combined with Naruto’s Sage Art: Magnetism Style Rasengan to attack Madara, only for Madara to use his Limbo: Prison Edge to absorb the damage.
Realizing that the situation was changing for Sasuke and Naruto, as well as them starting to have the upper hand on him, Madara steals Kakashi’s Sharingan and uses it as a replacement for his left eye temporarily and uses his power to teleport to the Kamui dimension to regain his actual left eye with Obito, but not before Sasuke splits it in half.
Soon after, Sakura is teleported back to the normal dimension, she then says that Obito has warned her of the power Madara will possess if he gets both eyes. After Naruto restores Kakashi’s original left eye, Kakashi asks Sasuke what his true goal is in becoming Hokage. As Sasuke remains silent, Kakashi prefers not to force the question; instead, he reminds Sasuke that they are all still former members of Team 7.
Kakashi also tells his former students to remember their first lesson: teamwork. After Madara returns, fully regenerated and with both Rinnegan, Madara creates four shadows to slow down his opponents. He then goes into the air and uses Chibaku Tensei. Sasuke counters with the awakening of his final Susanoo with stabilized chakra to repel the massive stones.
Realizing that the moon has taken on the appearance of Madara’s third eye, Sasuke quickly retreats to the ground, and uses the wings of his Susanoo to protect Naruto, Sakura, and Kakashi from the Infinite Tsukuyomi. When Naruto tries to get out to help the others, Sasuke stops him and tells him to be patient, and complements him that if Naruto gets out of his Susanoo he will be caught in Madara’s genjutsu and that will be the end of everything.
Kaguya Ōtsutsuki’s attack
When everyone asks Sasuke what was going on outside, Sasuke stubbornly tells them to be quiet and says that he is in charge. While Naruto is furious at Sasuke’s still independent attitude, Kakashi solemnly admits that with Sasuke’s Rinnegan, he may be the only one capable of saving the world. When the light of Madara’s technique finally ends, Sasuke deactivates his Susanoo and notes that only one Rinnegan has a chance to cancel the Infinite Tsukuyomi.
Madara confronts Sasuke and his companions, only for Black Zetsu to suddenly betray Madara by impaling his hand across Madara’s chest, shocking everyone. When Madara asks why his own manifestation did this, Black Zetsu states that he is actually a manifestation of Kaguya Ōtsutsuki. Black Zetsu then proceeds to expand his being into Madara.
As Black Zetsu continues to expand on Madara, Sasuke notices that all of Madara’s shadows disappear. Sasuke and his companions are immediately knocked to the ground after large amounts of chakra begin to come out of the ground and flow towards Madara. Sasuke deduces that the chakra is coming from the people trapped inside the Infinite Tsukuyomi, and decides to stop Madara before he can absorb more chakra.
As Naruto attacks him from the front, Sasuke teleports behind Madara and tries to cut him off. However, Sasuke and Naruto’s efforts are futile as they are trapped by chakra threads. When Black Zetsu finishes transferring into Madara, the chakra begins to recede and Kaguya is fully revived.
Realizing that Sasuke and Naruto are reincarnations of Indra and Asura, respectively, she throws them to the ground. Kaguya says she doesn’t want Sasuke and Team 7 to interfere with her plan to create her own army, she then moves them to another dimension; teleporting them into a cave with a river of lava, causing Sasuke and the Kakashi Team to fall towards it.
Sasuke immediately summons his falcon to save himself and Naruto, ignoring Naruto’s pleas to save Kakashi and Sakura, who are saved by Kakashi’s quick thinking. When Naruto questions his complete disregard for the safety of his companions, Sasuke informs Naruto that they are the only ones who can defeat Kaguya, and thus none of them can die, even if they have to survive at the expense of sacrificing others, such as Sakura and Kakashi.
Kaguya immediately counters with a focused attack, which Sasuke tries to block with his Susanoo, but misses, resulting in the wing of his falcon ending up being pierced, as well as Sasuke’s left arm. As he begins to fall towards the lava pit once again, Sasuke activates his Susanoo to protect himself, but is quickly saved by Naruto, who discovers his ability to fly. Naruto then attacks Kaguya, managing to provide an opening for Sasuke, who attacks her resulting in a huge explosion.
However, Sasuke’s attack fails, and he is forced out of his perfect Susanoo and begins to fall towards the river of lava once again. When the sheath of his sword is destroyed by the lava, Sasuke manages to teleport to Naruto’s location, Naruto then creates a platform to support Sasuke. Annoyed that his Susanoo had no effect on Kaguya, he and Naruto fail to notice Kaguya emerge behind them with tears in her eyes.
Black Zetsu emerges from Kaguya, grabbing Naruto and Sasuke, and begins to absorb their powers, while he also explains the story of Kaguya’s defeat, his creation, and his attempt to revive Kaguya. Once Black Zetsu finishes his tale, Naruto manages to wrest Black Zetsu away from himself and Sasuke, the two shinobi then prepare to counterattack.
Sasuke and Naruto, after discussing a counterattack plan, go into action with Sasuke using Amaterasu on Kaguya, to which Kaguya absorbs, however, giving Naruto the chance to use his new technique. Ultimately, the plan is successful as Kaguya is distracted long enough to be punched by Naruto. Sasuke prepares to attack Kaguya with his Yin Style, while Naruto begins to attack Kaguya with his Fusion Style.
However, the sealing attempt is unsuccessful, as Kaguya teleports to a different dimension and traps the two in an ice prison. Sasuke uses his Flame Style: Kagutsuchi to free Naruto and himself from the ice. Black Zetsu tells Kaguya that she must separate the two, Kaguya then appears behind Sasuke and pulls him into her portal, leaving him trapped in a desert dimension, isolated and confused. He tries to find a way to escape, but to no avail and quickly becomes exhausted. Sasuke senses Naruto’s chakra, but cannot find it.
Later, he sees Obito and Sakura open a portal and ask him to run to them. When the portal starts to get smaller as Obito weakens, Sasuke manages to move to where they are and catches Sakura as she collapses. He then explains how his ability works.
Sasuke returns to the ice dimension along with Obito and Sakura. As Sasuke heads towards Naruto, Naruto asks if he thanked Obito and Sakura, which he coldly rejects and tells Naruto to focus on Kaguya. Kaguya immediately shifts everyone into a high-gravity dimension, and prepares to eliminate Sasuke and Naruto.
Thanks to the effects of gravity, Sasuke and Naruto manage to dodge the attack, but Kaguya launches the attack once again, intent on eliminating the threat. Kakashi and Obito jump in front of Sasuke and Naruto, but Obito uses Kamui to save Kakashi, however, he ends up getting stabbed in the process, shocking Sasuke and everyone else.
Sasuke recharges his left eye, while everyone listens to Obito’s final words. When the power of his Rinnegan is restored, Sasuke takes the opportunity to surprise Kaguya and teleports instantly to her side. He tries to attack her with Chidori, but is unsuccessful, as Kaguya flees. As Naruto tries to save Obito, Sasuke informs him that he can do nothing to save him, and so he must focus on Kaguya.
Sasuke activates his perfect Susanoo and flies to Kaguya’s location, preparing to do battle with her. As he continues to fight her, Sasuke creates an opening and, Naruto despondent and angry, manages to rip Kaguya’s arm off, with Black Zetsu still attached to it. As Sasuke begins to pressure Kaguya, Naruto launches nine separate attacks, each powered by the chakra of the Bijū. After hitting Kaguya with it, her body becomes unstable, transforming into a junction of the Bijū. Producing several huge hands that suck in everything that comes into direct contact.
When one of these hands departs towards Sakura, Kakashi, having inherited the Sharingan powers from Obito’s spirit, uses the Susanoo to save Sakura, to everyone’s great surprise.
Regaining control of herself, Kaguya then molds a mass of chakra from the Bijū together with a gigantic Sphere of the Way of Truth. Kakashi devises a plan and shares it with his students, telling them to prepare for what may be their last mission as a team. While Naruto distracts Kaguya with his clones, Sasuke waits for the opportunity to spring into action. While Kaguya is distracted, Sasuke switches places with one of Naruto’s shadow clones and appears at Kaguya’s side.
As she tries to escape, Sakura comes from above and lands a punch on Kaguya, allowing Naruto and Sasuke to finally be able to touch her with their special sun and moon tattoos they received from Hagoromo, preparing to seal the Rabbit Goddess once and for all.
Immediately after making contact, Sasuke and Naruto begin the ultimate sealing technique: the Six Paths – Chibaku Tensei. Kaguya wonders how she, the ancestor of all chakra, could be defeated by mere chakra fragments, as she reverts to the Outer Path Demon Statue, and is enveloped by a landscape, creating a huge moon-like satellite. After they seal Kaguya, the moon tattoo disappears from Sasuke’s hand, just as the sun tattoo disappears from Naruto’s hand, with both reappearing in Hagoromo’s hands.
Relieved that they have defeated Kaguya, they immediately worry about how they will get back to the normal dimension. Suddenly, Team 7, the Bijū and Madara are summoned back to earth by Hagoromo and all the previous Kage. Satisfied, Hagoromo thanks Sasuke and his companions for saving the world.
While everyone is celebrating Kaguya’s defeat, Sasuke senses some life in Madara, and rushes to eliminate his fallen enemy once and for all. However, he is stopped by Hagoromo, while Hashirama approaches his former companion. Following Hagoromo’s advice, Sasuke listens to Hashirama and Madara’s final conversation, after Madara dies peacefully, Hagoromo makes all the Kage from the past return to the afterlife.
As the Bijū comment on their plans for the future now that they are free, Sasuke reveals his intention to kill the five Kage who are still trapped inside the Infinite Tsukuyomi. Sasuke then takes control of the nine Bijū and seals them inside nine separate Chibaku Tensei. When Kakashi asks if he still simply wants revenge, Sasuke clearly states that what he wants is to recreate the world the way it should be, by making a revolution. Noting that only Naruto is still standing in his way, Sasuke confronts his former friend and ally. While Hagoromo looks on sad to see that once again his sons will fight each other, Naruto firmly says that he will end this feud once and for all.
Before they leave for battle, Naruto insists that Sasuke at least free the Bijū, but Sasuke says that he intends to destroy them, which requires him to kill Naruto as well, in order to eliminate the Bijū’s chakra within him, however, he will keep the captured Bijū alive long enough for him to dissipate the Infinite Tsukuyomi, killing them afterwards. He tells Naruto to follow him, as he wants to battle elsewhere.
As Sasuke turns to leave, Sakura makes a final plea for Sasuke not to abandon them again, only to be silenced with a genjutsu to prevent her from interfering with their fight. Ignoring Kakashi’s scolding, Sasuke guides Naruto to the Valley of the End. Although Naruto tries to convince Sasuke once again with Itachi’s words, Sasuke disputes his words and prepares to fight, saying that Naruto will understand what the word “Hokage” means to him.
Sasuke explains Itachi’s sacrifice to Naruto, saying that Itachi is the definition of a “true Hokage,” despite the fact that his only mistake was allowing Sasuke to survive so that he could discover the truth about his brother. Explaining more about his goal, Sasuke tells Naruto that since he will become the Hokage, he will become the darkness itself and take on all the hatred of the world all by himself.
By absorbing the hatred of the shinobi world itself, Sasuke will eliminate the darkness of the failed system, allowing it to shine once again. Naruto tries to explain the error of Sasuke’s point once again, saying that Sasuke knows nothing about his brother or what he believed. However, Sasuke does not take Naruto’s words into account, and states that Naruto’s death will be the beginning of the new world order, which he is determined to cause in the world. With nothing more to say, Sasuke and Naruto set out to fight, hard enough to start cracking Hashirama’s statue.
Repelling each other, Sasuke immediately fires a huge fireball at Naruto, who manages to deflect the attack by activating his Kurama Mode. Leaving Naruto with no time to react, Sasuke moves in behind Naruto and uses his Chidori, causing Naruto to be thrown against the water. As Naruto recovers, Sasuke activates his Susanoo and fires three arrows at Naruto, but Naruto manages to block Sasuke’s attack by using three of his Path of Truth Spheres, resulting in several small explosions.
Sasuke activates his perfect Susanoo and attempts to slash Naruto, only for his attack to be countered by one of Naruto’s tails as he enters Beast with Tail Mode. The two titanic manifestations slam their fists together, causing memories of the two’s past to be shared between them. Taking a moment, Sasuke warns Naruto to pick up the pace if he doesn’t want to die, Naruto, however, says he refuses to abandon Sasuke despite their differences.
As Naruto forms a Tailed Beast Ball, Sasuke applies the Chidori to his perfect Susanoo. The two techniques collide, resulting in a huge explosion, with Naruto and Sasuke entering their inner subconscious once again. Sasuke tells Naruto that they are no longer children, and that despite their different opinions, they should be able to understand each other at this point.
Remembering Sasuke’s words about two high-level shinobi who can understand each other’s feelings through their fists, Naruto tries once again to convince Sasuke to stop fighting, stating that his goal is useless since the five shinobi villages are already united. However, Sasuke explains that they only united to defeat a common enemy; and now with their enemies defeated, Sasuke believes that the world will return to the way it was before the war.
Determined to become the common threat for the good of the shinobi world, Sasuke explains that he will find a way to gain immortality through the use of his immense power – stating that this is what he means by “becoming Hokage.” Back in the real world, Sasuke and Naruto are pushed backwards as a result of the explosion from the collision of their attacks. Satisfied that Naruto is getting serious, Sasuke summons the satellites in which the Bijū were trapped and begins channeling their chakra into his perfect Susanoo, causing him to change into a more humanoid form.
When Sasuke claims that he is possibly the strongest person in the world, Kurama Yin tells Naruto that Sasuke is on the same level as Hagoromo. When Naruto creates three shadow clones, Sasuke immediately attacks him from behind, launching one of his clones towards the ground.
The two battle in the sky, Naruto tries to attack Sasuke, but is unable to, as Sasuke uses a lightning-based senbon to counter Naruto’s technique, resulting in a huge explosion. Naruto combines his clones to form a powerful chakra avatar and launches two Rasenshuriken, while Sasuke fires a lightning-enhanced arrow, with the two attacks set to collide in midair.
Sasuke and Naruto’s attacks collide in midair, creating a huge explosion that devastates the earth and destroys the heads of Madara and Hashirama’s statues. Completely without chakra, the two fall to the valley floor once again. Surprised that Naruto survived his last attack, Sasuke tries to use Amaterasu to incinerate Naruto, but fails, as Naruto uses Kurama’s chakra to protect himself from the damage.
When Sasuke begins to feel the effects of using the large amount of chakra, Naruto takes the opportunity to create clones that attack Sasuke simultaneously, sending him flying into the air, Naruto plans to deliver a decisive blow, but Sasuke also manages to land a blow.
Sasuke uses shuriken to eliminate the clones and attacks Naruto whom he believes to be the real one, only to be tricked with a clone of Naruto who manages to land a blow on him. Sasuke tries to use Chidori, but fails, Naruto activates his Rasengan, but stumbles and cancels the technique. Seeing this opportunity, Sasuke kicks Naruto and starts punching Naruto several times in the face, until Naruto finally manages to break free with a headbutt. When
Naruto gets up, the two engage in a long taijutsu battle for an entire day. By nightfall, Sasuke and Naruto continue to fight with only their willpower, as the two are completely exhausted. Kurama gives Naruto more chakra for him to use for a final attack, but Sasuke manages to use the Black Path ability of his Rinnegan to absorb Naruto’s chakra for himself. Activating Chidori once again, Sasuke prepares to end Naruto’s life, stating that he will finally be alone once he eliminates his only and best friend.
Refusing to give up however, Naruto strikes back, sending Sasuke into the valley wall. Enraged at his persistence, Sasuke channels his last reserve of chakra into a Kagutsuchi infused with Chidori and crashes into Naruto’s Rasengan once again, destroying the rest of the valley and his and Naruto’s arm. With both completely exhausted, the two stand next to each other and Sasuke asks why Naruto decided to go through such extremes for someone like him.
Acknowledging that he himself had felt jealous of Naruto from the beginning, Sasuke admits his defeat. However, Naruto says that he will not let the Uchiha die on the battlefield, declaring that he will always be there to be his friend no matter what, causing Sasuke to go to tears. Sakura arrives shortly after and heals them both.
He later sincerely apologizes to Sakura for all the things he had done. She, in tears, accepts it while Kakashi looks on with pleasure as his team gathers once again. Sasuke forms a special seal with Naruto, resulting in the release of the Infinite Tsukuyomi, with the world being saved from the final threat. After this, he releases the Bijū from their satellite prisons, much to Naruto’s delight.
Blank Period
Sasuke’s Departure
After the war, Sasuke is officially forgiven by Kakashi, who had become the Sixth Hokage after Tsunade’s retirement and Naruto’s influence. Choosing to see the world more clearly through his eyes, Sasuke prepares to leave Konoha, choosing not to wait for his new prosthetic hand to be ready. Sakura asks once again if she can go with him, and as Sasuke tells her that he must make this journey alone, he nudges her on the forehead affectionately, as his brother Itachi used to do with him, promising that he will return and thanks her. As he departs the village, he runs into Naruto, who was waiting for him. Saying their final words to each other, Naruto gives Sasuke his old forehead protector that he had discarded at the end of their first fight. Sasuke accepts the forehead protector as a sign of reconciliation and credits Naruto for teaching him the true meaning of a shinobi.
While on his travels, Sasuke often helps the Big Five Nations whenever something tries to disturb the peace. Though he often does this unseen, though he often leaves subtle hints that he is responsible. This eventually redeemed him in the eyes of the Five Kage when he created a theory as to why Kaguya was creating an army.
The Last: Naruto the Movie
Continuing his journey around the world, Sasuke crosses the path of Hiashi Hyūga, who had been injured in his battle against Toneri’s puppets. While rescuing Hiashi, he watches a large meteorite come down from the sky and destroy the surrounding area. Returning to Konoha, Sasuke indiscreetly leaves Hiashi to be healed, while other Konoha shinobi protect the village from the falling comets. Lee and other taijutsu users manage to destroy a chunk of a large meteorite, but the rest continue to fall toward the village.
With no one else able to stop the meteorite, Sasuke activates his Chidori and destroys it, resulting in a huge explosion. After informing Kakashi that it is his job to protect the village while Naruto is away, Sasuke mysteriously disappears. Coinciding with Naruto’s wedding to Hinata, Sasuke continues his journey around the world, wandering the desert once again.
Sakura Hiden: Contemplations of Love in the Spring Breeze
Rumors begin to spread that someone fitting Sasuke’s description is plotting to destroy Konoha. Konoha sends repeated messages to Sasuke to try to confirm or deny the rumors, but he does not respond to any of them; Naruto theorizes that he considers the rumors too absurd to pay attention to them. However, when one of the messages mentions that Sakura has been captured, he immediately returns to the village. Sakura is able to deal with most of her captors on her own, but Sasuke defeats the remaining few. He then leaves without Sakura being aware of his presence. At the end of the novel, it is suggested that Sasuke returns to the village at some point due to him saying, “I am home.”
Akatsuki Hiden: The Blossoming of Evil Flowers
During his journey, Sasuke meets up with two boys who tell him they have stories about the Akatsuki. After he leaves them, he meets up with another boy who mistakes him for Itachi, whom the boy knew many years ago. He tells Sasuke that Itachi was a very good person, making Sasuke agree before leaving once again.
Sasuke Shinden: Book of Dawn
As Sasuke begins to investigate Kaguya Ōtsutsuki during his journey of redemption, he is forced to examine his former role as an avenger and how that past will influence his future. Although he is offered to return to Konoha, he is unsure whether or not he should due to the guilt he feels for betraying his friends. During his journey, he receives a message from Kakashi about the disappearances of several shinobi from Konoha, Kumo and Kiri and Sasuke agrees to investigate. On his way to the Land of Lightning, Sasuke arrives at a bamboo village in the Land of Hot Springs and finds out from the villagers about an evil ninja group called the Black Thunder Group, whose leader, Karyū, looks up to Sasuke and wants to kill him to overcome him. In the village, he meets two shinobi, Chino and Nowaki.
Sasuke finds the group attacking the village and defeats them, saving all the villagers from harm. Karyū admits that he has admired Sasuke since the latter attacked the Kage Meeting, much to Sasuke’s dismay that Karyū is tarnishing his name. Before he can take Karyū to Konoha, Karyū is killed by the father of one of his victims. When the genjutsu does not dissipate after Karyū’s death, Sasuke suspects that the real culprit is loose. Sasuke later reunites with Orochimaru and his former Taka teammates to investigate the matter further.
Sasuke keeps in touch with Sai when Konoha is attacked and discovers the origins of the Black Thunder Group. He finds most of the missing shinobi from Kiri and Kumo on an isolated island, and through luck, discovers that Chino and Nowaki are, in fact, the ones responsible for the disappearances. After they escape, Sasuke delivers the shinobi back to their villages and, on the advice of the Raikage, goes to Yugakure, where he meets and battles with Chino. Chino reveals that she is seeking revenge due to the fact that her clan was eliminated due to her village fearing Ketsuryūgan’s power, plus she holds the Uchiha clan partially responsible. Because Sasuke understands her pain and hatred, he defeats her along with Nowaki, but without seriously hurting them and convinces them to accept defeat. Sasuke leaves them in the village prison, but asks for them to be forgiven.
After resuming his journey, Sasuke receives a letter from Naruto that mentions Sakura comparing his efforts to protect the village to that of his childhood dream of joining the Konoha Military Police. Sasuke decides that his home is with Sakura and makes the decision to return to Konoha, where he is welcomed by her.
Boruto: Naruto Next Generations
Sasuke lives in the village for a while before resuming his travels. However, Sakura refuses to stay in Konoha without Sasuke and he allows Sakura to accompany him on his journey. Eventually, they marry, and she becomes pregnant with their daughter Sarada, who is born in one of Orochimaru’s hiding places, with Karin assisting in the birth. Later, Sasuke returns to Konoha with Sakura and Sarada, and they live as a normal family for a few years. Sarada’s memories seem to imply that Sasuke was actively present in her life during her early years.
At some point during his investigations into Kaguya Ōtsutsuki, Sasuke begins to suspect that she has created the White Zetsu Army in order to face some greater threat. He asks Naruto, now the Seventh Hokage, to call a Kage Meeting so that he can share his theory with the other Kages. Not wanting to cause a panic, it is decided that this information should be kept from public knowledge, as they are still recovering from the Fourth Shinobi World War. Sasuke then takes the liberty of tracking down Kaguya’s chakra traces, being the only one who can do so with his Rinnegan and leaves the village on a top-secret mission. Wanting to secure the future of his daughter and the new generation, Sasuke continues his wanderings as he tries to find more information, using his Rinnegan to inspect other dimensions. Despite being away from his family for many years, it seems that he shares a deep connection with them. While walking through a forest one day, he thinks he hears a sound behind him. Instinctively putting his hand on his blade, however, Sasuke considers this his imagination and continues on his way.
Academy Arc
Main article: Academy ArcAfter a remnant of the Root fails to destroy the village, Naruto takes the research of the Gozu Tennō to Sasuke. Realizing the true nature behind it, Sasuke is surprised at how close Danzō came to replicating Kaguya’s technique. After noting that this would help in his investigation, Naruto suggests that Sasuke return to the village for a while. Sasuke, however, simply asks Naruto to apologize to Sakura for his continued absence before leaving.
Sarada Uchiha Arc
While Sasuke is apparently on his journey back to Konoha, he realizes that something is wrong. He is then attacked by a mysterious enemy wielding a kusarigama. After warding off his opponent with his sword and a lightning chain, Sasuke realizes that the person has a Sharingan and wears the Uchiha clan family symbol on his back. When the mysterious shinobi escapes, a confused Sasuke ponders how this is possible. After this, Sasuke sends a messenger hawk to inform the Seventh Hokage of the recent event, asking to meet with him.
Later, at the waiting point, Sarada arrives, having joined Naruto on the journey to finally see her father again. Sasuke surprises Sarada, who is crying with joy after finally seeing her father after longer than she could remember. Sasuke, however, ever cautious and not recognizing his daughter, draws his sword on the suspicion that she is an affiliate of the boy who attacked him. Sasuke then moves to attack Sarada, who dodges his blade. He then tries to grab her with his hand, however, Sarada screams “Daddy”, causing Sasuke to realize who she is and ceases his attack. Sarada questions him about who his real mother is, but receives no answer. She demands to know why Sasuke has abandoned them for all this time, but he tells her that it is none of her business, causing her to run out the door crying, with Naruto following to comfort her. Later after detecting that Shin and her father are attacking from outside, Sasuke rushes to help Naruto and protect his daughter.
Sasuke quickly confronts the mysterious man, repelling his blades with his own sword, only for the man to grab Sasuke’s blade, Sasuke then uses his Rinnegan to switch places and launch his Fire Style: Great Fireball Technique. The older man quickly pulls Shin into the path of the attack to take the damage. Amazed by the power of Sasuke’s dōjutsu, he expresses his desire to make it his own and introduces himself as Shin Uchiha as well. The adult Shin then takes advantage of Sasuke’s low guard and manipulates Sasuke’s sword to stab Naruto. Next, the enemy Uchiha throws more blades at Sarada, forcing Sasuke to protect his daughter with his body. Sakura appears and quickly attacks the man. With the fight seemingly over, Sakura apologizes for the way this all happened, to which Sasuke insists that it is not her fault, but rather a fault established by him. Suddenly, a small creature with Sharingan appears and teleports Shin, his son and Sakura.
Realizing that Shin’s arm has been incorporated with multiple Sharingan as well as Danzō, Sasuke surmises that Orochimaru is behind this. Accepting Naruto’s decision to take the children with them, they set off for Orochimaru’s hideout to get answers. Along the way they meet up with Yamato, who has been watching Orochimaru. Upon arriving at the hideout, they are met by Suigetsu and Jūgo, and are soon followed by the appearance of Orochimaru. After Sasuke accuses the Sannin for attacking his wife and daughter, Orochimaru explains that Shin is a former test subject of his. He explains that Shin is not really an Uchiha, but rather someone with a fascination with the clan and Itachi in particular. Due to his unique genetic nature, Shin was able to completely accept any transplanted and infused genetic material without suffering any adverse effects, Orochimaru then says that due to this he began to experiment on him to better understand his genetic makeup and improve his cloning techniques, which resulted in several younger, independent clones of Shin. Shin then left Orochimaru and took everyone away, but left one of his young clones behind. When Sasuke asks where Shin is, Orochimaru decides to tell, noting that this way Sasuke can kill Shin for him. Later, Sasuke waits outside with Orochimaru and his men for Naruto and Sarada to arrive, scolding him for making him wait. When Orochimaru notes that Sakura could be dead, Sasuke calmly denies that this is possible. With his Rinnegan finally recovered to its full power, after using it to investigate Kaguya’s dimensions, Sasuke activates his Susanoo to take everyone with him.
Soon after entering the dimension with his allies, Sasuke asks Naruto to detect where Sakura is. They soon find her engaged in her battle against Shin. Sasuke quickly dives in with his Susanoo and uses it to crush Shin’s bones in his entrance. While Sasuke checks that his wife is okay, Shin sends his clones to distract his enemies while he escapes. Instead, the clones betray him and stab him, with one of them simply explaining that they have outgrown Shin’s need. Thousands more of Shin’s clones then appear. As Naruto confronts the army through his shadow clones, Sasuke quickly attacks a giant clone of Shin with his Susanoo. Shin takes advantage of this fight to escape with his space-time technique, trying to take the children with him through his creature. Seeing this, Sarada quickly kills the creature while Shin collapses. Sasuke then watches in shock and pride as Sarada joins the fight and defeats several clones of Shin with a single punch, using the force like her mother.
After learning that Sakura is really his biological mother, Sarada asks Sasuke if he believes his family is connected to each other by their feelings, to which he replies yes. When asked why, he says that it is because he and Sakura have Sarada as their daughter. Sasuke then asks Naruto what they should do with the clones and Naruto proposes taking them to Konoha’s new orphanage, Sasuke calls him a softy, but doesn’t disagree with him. Upon returning to Konoha, he shares his first family dinner with Sakura and Sarada. At some point, Sasuke and his family pose for a portrait together. After a while, he prepares to leave the village to continue with his journey. Seeing Sarada upset, he surprises her by hugging her affectionately and poking her forehead, promising to return home soon. When Sakura leans forward to receive the same kind of affection from him, he turns and bids them goodbye, leaving Sakura disappointed.
Chūnin Examination Arc
As Sasuke continues his investigation, he finds the remains of a stronger crop of White Zetsu in the Mountain Graveyard, which he destroys with Amaterasu. Upon arriving in Kaguya’s ice dimension, Sasuke locates a scroll in Kaguya’s palace. There, he is attacked by Kinshiki and Momoshiki Ōtsutsuki, while barely surviving a lethal attack from the former. Using the abilities of his Rinnegan, he finally manages to escape. Unable to read the scroll with his Rinnegan, Sasuke takes it back to Konoha to decipher it.
He stops at Naruto’s house to deliver it, but is attacked by Naruto’s son, Boruto Uzumaki, who mistakes him for his father. Sasuke easily blocks the attack and asks for Naruto’s whereabouts; Hinata, Naruto’s wife, tells him that Naruto is still in the Hokage’s office. Sasuke then leaves while Boruto, who realizes that Sasuke is his father’s rival, looks at him in awe. Halfway to Naruto’s office, Sasuke finds Naruto’s old tattered jacket on the street after Boruto has thrown it out the window. He arrives at Naruto’s office to ask him for help deciphering the scroll and hands him the jacket. Sasuke says that he met Boruto and that the boy reminded him of what Naruto was like at that age, and Naruto insists that Boruto is similar to Sasuke when he was younger, but then backtracks on his statement – noting that Boruto is different from both of them, as he never really worked as hard as the ninjas of his time – using Boruto’s perfect condition of clothing as an example. They make a bet about whether the nature of the shinobi has changed, even in relation to Boruto, to which Sasuke says no and Naruto says yes. After leaving Naruto’s office, Sasuke makes his way back to his home, intending to see his wife and daughter, when he is then attacked by Boruto, whom he easily defeats. Boruto asks Sasuke to make him his apprentice because there is someone he wants to defeat. Unimpressed, Sasuke asks if he can use Rasengan, to which Boruto says no. Sasuke tells Boruto to come back to him only after he has learned the technique.
After a while, Boruto manages to master the Rasengan, but when Sasuke comments on how small he is, Boruto mistakenly takes this to mean that Sasuke is disappointed and throws his Rasengan in a frustrated manner, which disappears, before running off. Sasuke, however, notices a unique feature in Boruto’s Rasengan, that he is able to launch the jutsu and make it disappear before impact. Sarada, who was watching them, approaches her father and speaks on Boruto’s behalf. Sasuke replies that he is not disappointed in Boruto and that he really wants to make Boruto his student, in fact, Sasuke was quite pleased, even more impressed with the lightning nature that Boruto applies to his Rasengan to the joy of his daughter. Later, Boruto shows a standard-sized Rasengan to Sasuke, and although Sasuke realizes the Kote hidden under Boruto’s glove, he still agrees to make him his student. That night, they take a break from training and sit by a campfire. Boruto questions him about Naruto’s weaknesses and Sasuke goes on to talk about how Naruto suffered many hardships in his life and worked hard to overcome them in order to become Hokage. Sasuke cryptically references the fact that Boruto was willing to cheat to achieve his goal saying that Boruto was quite different from Naruto, which he hoped would not be the case. However, he agrees to train Boruto since he has met his demand. Later, he talks with Boruto’s jonin-sensei, Konohamaru Sarutobi, who agrees to let Sasuke take over his training.
Sasuke teaches shurikenjutsu to Boruto to help him prepare for the Chūnin Exams, but Boruto complains that he decides to teach him this because it is the specialty of Sasuke’s daughter Sarada and because he is an Uchiha. Sasuke responds by creating several clones and telling Boruto that the Shadow Clone Technique is Naruto’s specialty, but hard work makes it possible for others to learn it. When the Exams begin, Sasuke visits Naruto through a shadow clone to ask if the scroll had been deciphered and Naruto says that he found out from Konohamaru that Sasuke is training Boruto. Naruto says that maybe Sasuke is right, after all, the nature of shinobi does not change, to which Sasuke agrees. When the scroll is deciphered, Sasuke goes to warn Naruto. When Momoshiki and Kinshiki Ōtsutsuki appear and attack, Sasuke rescues Sarada from falling on the wreckage, but is confronted by Kinshiki as he tries to get her to safety. Shikamaru Nara briefly restrains Kinshiki and Momoshiki, allowing Sasuke to tell Naruto what the scroll said: that Kinshiki and Momoshiki were collecting chakra from the planets to extend their lives, and that Kaguya was building a White Zetsu Army to prepare for her inevitable invasion. When the two enemies attack, Sasuke combines his Susanoo with Naruto’s Kurama to protect themselves and their children, but Naruto tells Sasuke to protect his children while he goes to deal with the enemies. Naruto asks Sasuke to take care of Boruto and Sarada, before he allows himself to be captured by Momoshiki and Kinshiki’s jutsu.
When he goes to Naruto’s office to look for Boruto, he finds the boy wearing Naruto’s old jacket, after Boruto comments on how out of style it is, Sasuke agrees with him. Sasuke mentions to Boruto that he received scorn in the Exam for cheating, that he is technically not even a shinobi anymore and that if it wasn’t for his younger sister and mother who care about him, he then he would be in the same situation as Naruto before. When Boruto asks how his father overcame his difficulties, Sasuke says that Boruto should ask Naruto himself and goes on to explain that he can still feel Naruto’s chakra, which means that he is alive and that he intends to rescue him. When Boruto asks Sasuke why he cares about someone like him, Sasuke replies that it is because Boruto is a strong shinobi with the potential to surpass even Naruto, effectively restoring Boruto’s confidence and determination. He also gives Boruto his old forehead protector. Sasuke meets with the other Kage and Boruto at the top of the Hokage Tower. Sasuke uses his Rinnegan to open a portal to another dimension. Before they leave, Hinata tries to stop Boruto from leaving – who then puts on Sasuke’s bandana and confidently states that he will save his father (reminding Hinata of Naruto when he was young). Sasuke approves of this behavior and notes that Boruto is finally starting to behave like a real shinobi. They find Naruto in another dimension being bound in a tree similar to Shinju and about to have Kurama extracted from him. Sasuke and Boruto manage to free Naruto while the other Kage fight their enemies. When Naruto asks Sasuke what Boruto is doing there, Sasuke simply explains that many things have happened and that his son has become a shinobi, before he runs off to fight. Sasuke helps Kurotsuchi and Chōjūrō contain Kinshiki before going to fight Momoshiki, where he warns Naruto not to use ninjutsu against him.
However, Kinshiki manages to break free and pushes Sasuke and Naruto away. Knowing that there is no other option, Kinshiki tells Momoshiki to consume his chakra, as he had done to his mentor before him-to which Momoshiki agrees. In an effort to increase his power, Momoshiki turns him into a Cinnabar Panacea and devours him. Sasuke and Naruto then fight Momoshiki and initially get the upper hand until Naruto is briefly trapped by Momoshiki and Sasuke is severely burned by Momoshiki’s Fusion Style. After being freed by the other Kage, Naruto comes to the aid of his friend Sasuke and heals him with Kurama chakra. Sasuke and Naruto combine Susanoo and Beast with Tail Mode to cut Momoshiki’s lava creature in half and defeat him. However, Katasuke, who had followed them, uses his Kote in an attempt to kill Momoshiki, but his attacks are absorbed and Momoshiki’s strength is restored. Momoshiki uses the techniques he absorbed against them, Sasuke protects Boruto from the attack. Momoshiki restrains Naruto and the other Kage using the Shadow Imitation Technique and prepares to finish them off. Sasuke tells Boruto to use his Rasengan on Momoshiki to stop him from killing the Kage, but Boruto doubts it will work. Sasuke encourages him to do his best and Boruto, determined, manages to hit his Rasengan on Momoshiki. While Naruto helps Boruto create a Rasengan together, Sasuke stops Momoshiki long enough for Boruto to launch his Rasengan and destroy Momoshiki. However, in the anime, before they leave the other dimension, Sasuke was able to catch a glimpse of Boruto’s conversation with Momoshiki’s despondent spirit thanks to his Rinnegan, as well as notice that some technique had been used to stop the flow of time, as the conversation goes unnoticed by everyone else. After Momoshiki’s defeat, Sasuke remarks that Naruto looks terrible to which Naruto replies that he is the one who doesn’t look well at all. The two sit next to each other, looking at Boruto and Sasuke declares that he has won his bet. After everything is back to normal, aside from worrying about the third Ōtsutsuki who escaped, Sasuke meets with Boruto again. He reveals that he knows about his mark and Momoshiki, insisting that Boruto let him know if anything unusual happens again. He also lets Boruto keep his old forehead protector as a sign of being Sasuke’s official student.
After the battle, Sasuke poses for a photo with Naruto, Boruto and the other Kage. Afterwards, Sasuke decides to take advantage of the fact that his research was being reviewed to spend a few days with his family. Later, Sasuke and Sakura, both smiling, watch Sarada and her teammates leave for a mission. Soon after, Sasuke returns to his investigation of Ōtsutsuki.

Mujina Bandits Arc
After Shojoji is arrested, Sai asks Sasuke to question him. As he questions Shojoji about the mark on Boruto’s palm, Shojoji reveals that it is associated with the Kara organization and the nature of the mark is vaguely similar to Orochimaru’s Juinjutsu. Some time later, Sasuke leaves Konoha.
While traveling back to Konoha to see Naruto, Sasuke passes through Kumogakure, and notices a large number of village shinobi ready to be deployed. As he enters the mountainous area of Konoha at night, he encounters Shikamaru.
Ao’s Arc
During Naruto’s fight against Boruto in the Training Hall, Sasuke watches the fight from the sideline. Later, Sasuke arrives at the Hokage’s office, where he tells Boruto the value of the Scientific Ninja Tools and that the danger of the world has not yet been eliminated. He explains the imminent danger from enemies like the Ōtsutsuki clan. Naruto also admits to knowing about Boruto’s mark on his right palm, which is another reason why Naruto approves of the development of this advanced weaponry. While Boruto still insists that they should only rely on ninjutsu as in the Chūnin Exams, Naruto notes that the Chūnin Exams would test one’s growth as a ninja, where they are now in a battle for survival. Katasuke then arrives to retrieve his prototype, to which Naruto assigns Team Konohamaru to a C-level mission in order to escort the lead scientist back to the lab in Ryūben City. While Boruto leaves in a rage, Sasuke is sure that Boruto will calm down soon.
Abilities
Since childhood, Sasuke has been regarded as a natural genius, even among the Uchiha clan, being well versed in many of his techniques and easily ranking at the top of his class at the Academy. He has been compared to other prodigious individuals, and is even known to be potentially able to surpass Itachi, Nagato, and even Madara.
Sasuke constantly develops his skills during Part I, being able to take on several skilled shinobi such as Haku, Gaara and even Orochimaru. After his two and a half years of training with the latter, Sasuke became able to fight on equal footing with several highly skilled and extremely powerful shinobi. At the Meeting of the Kage, Sasuke proved himself capable of fighting at least two Kage and their respective bodyguards, and later defeating Danzō despite the elder’s constant use of Izanagi – a feat that Itachi later praised. During the Fourth Shinobi World War, he was able to effectively match his older brother in various fields of combat against Kabuto and his Sage Mode enhanced with body modification.
After receiving the Chakra of the Six Paths, Sasuke was able to pressure Madara the then jinchūriki of Ten-Tails, despite the latter having fully absorbed the tree form of the Tailed Beast.
He was praised by Kurama for having talent comparable to the Sage of the Six Paths, and also gained the ability to sense Natural Energy, as seen when he could sense the enormous amount of natural energy that Kurama and Naruto accumulated in their final battle.
Years later, he was able to fight Shin Uchiha and his clone alone for some time, though without his full powers and having only one arm. While working alongside Naruto, Sasuke was able to subdue Momoshiki Ōtsutsuki, and would have defeated him if not for Katasuke’s interference.
Chakra prowess
Sasuke possesses a large amount of chakra. At age 7, he was already able to use his clan’s signature Fire Style technique, something that Kakashi noted requires a lot of developed chakra. In Part II, Sasuke’s reserves grew considerably, being able to summon a high-level snake like Manda. After developing his Mangekyou Sharingan, despite Sasuke repeatedly using it along with other chakra-consuming techniques, he still fought effectively in several consecutive battles against four Kage, Danzō and then Team 7, before finally succumbing to exhaustion. After winning Itachi’s eyes, Sasuke’s reserves seem to have increased even more, as during the Fourth Shinobi World War, he is visibly unaffected by using several high-level techniques against powerful enemies and only exhausted during his final battle with Naruto.
Sasuke’s chakra quality is very powerful, even among the Uchiha, which in part stems from the fact that he is the reincarnation of his ancestor, Indra, inheriting his strong spiritual energy. When Sasuke first arrived in the Land of Sound and gave Kabuto a frightening look, he and Orochimaru observed Sasuke’s exceptional chakra. In Part II, his chakra control grew considerably, being able to use many high-level techniques with few or no hand seals. When he began to take on the curse of his clan, Sasuke’s chakra became noticeably darker, even more so than Kurama’s, as noted by himself. Karin also mentioned that Sasuke’s chakra, while he was fighting at the Kage Meeting, had become even darker and colder than the corrupting influence of the Cursed Seal of Heaven. His chakra was still strong enough to break the control of Danzō’s Self-Cursing Seal. After meeting with Hagoromo’s spirit, the legendary sage gave Sasuke half of his chakra.
Taijutsu
Sasuke is highly skilled in taijutsu. In Part I, his skill was able to force Kakashi to use both hands during the bell test, and later subdue two chūnin-level nukenin from Kirigakure. Under Kakashi’s tutelage for the Chūnin Exam finals, Sasuke’s taijutsu improved dramatically, copying Rock Lee’s fighting skills to refine his own Strong Fist style. In Part II, he further improved his taijutsu under Orochimaru’s guidance, being able to perform his own style against opponents such as Itachi, Killer Bee, and Kakashi, despite his physical weakness against the latter. Later, Sasuke enters a confrontation with Naruto in the Valley of the End, managing to match the strength of his blow and fight on equal footing with the latter in taijutsu for almost an entire day, even when both were heavily exhausted.
Sasuke possesses great speed and reflexes, being the first of his fellow genin who reacted to the Demon Brothers’ ambush. After improving his chakra control, his speed surpassed that of Haku. His training for the final phase of the Chūnin Exams increased his speed significantly, being able to move faster than naked eyes can follow. In Part II, Sasuke’s speed increased even more, being able to cover large gaps instantly, leaving the others no time to react. He can evade both Deidara’s Explosive Clay at close range and the Fourth Raikage’s extremely fast attacks. His dexterity has also increased in speed, being able to make many hand seals in a second and launch throwing weapons quickly. His proficiency with the Body Flicker Technique also allows him to easily slash his opponents without them noticing.
Sasuke also has a high amount of stamina, sustaining a consistent string of battles against samurai, two Kage and their bodyguards. In a state of near-blindness, beaten, and visibly exhausted, he still had enough energy to fight Kakashi, restrain and disarm Sakura, and later match Naruto’s Rasengan with his Chidori. Sasuke’s brute strength also increased, being able to lift Sakura up by her throat with a single hand, even when exhausted. His overall improvements were so great that Sakura still suspects that he used drugs to improve his physical abilities.
Bukijutsu
Sasuke has regularly displayed great skill with various ninja tools. He is very tactical with steel wires, using them for a variety of purposes, including rappelling, manipulating the path of his shuriken, and guiding his nature transformation. His level with traps and weapon-based tactics surprised even Kakashi during the bell test. Sasuke also displayed the ability to infuse his kunai with chakra.
Kenjutsu
During Part II, Sasuke became a highly skilled user of kenjutsu and acquired a chokutō, which became an important part of his fighting style. His skill was able to defeat hundreds of Oto ninja easily without killing them, as well as kill multiple samurai, even deflecting their barrage of chakra blasts. Sasuke’s fencing was even recognized by Mifune, a famous swordsman after he effectively blocked the samurai’s attack. Sasuke’s lethal fencing is very versatile, using impressive speed and precision behind his attacks to leave little time for enemies to react. He can effectively wield it in one hand using a normal or reverse grip, giving him several styles of attack and defense to use. He can use his sword as a medium range projectile with great accuracy.
Shurikenjutsu
Sasuke is also well versed in the use of kunai and shuriken, showing tremendous skill while still at the Academy. Tactically, he can use techniques such as hiding a second shuriken in the shadow of the first and controlling their path using steel wires to elude an opponent with the wires. Sasuke’s marksmanship and tactical skills are almost on par with Itachi, being able to effectively hit targets in a blind spot, accurately deflecting one kunai from another.
Since his battle with Itachi in Part II, Sasuke uses a pair of bracelets with a special seal to instantly summon shuriken and kunai of various sizes and shapes, increasing their stock and throwing speed, being able to unleash a large barrage at impressive speed. After launching, Sasuke can perform a sneak attack by equipping the blades to detach and launch them in different directions. Sasuke can also increase the cutting power of his weapons by infusing them with his lightning chakra.
Kyūjutsu
From a very young age, Sasuke was trained in archery, however his aim was not very good at first, as he was unable to hit a large boar directly in front of him from a high vantage point. As he has matured in both age and skill, his aim has improved to the point where he can hit fast, evasive targets like Kabuto in his Sage Mode. He now uses this ability exclusively through his Susanoo, and even incorporates his nature transformations through it for more devastating techniques.
Ninjutsu
During his training with Orochimaru, Sasuke became able to summon several different sized snakes to help him in battle, even from his sleeves for hidden attacks or to bind his opponents with little time to react. He was also able to summon snakes from any part of his body. He could also summon a giant snake to help him in his fight to take him quickly through the terrain. His prowess even allowed him to summon the most powerful of snakes, Manda.
Sometime later, Sasuke also made an additional summoning contract that allows him to summon hawks. Once summoned, it can help Sasuke fly over terrain and circumvent attacks from his opponent. In the anime, the falcon was also able to perform coordinated attacks with Sasuke.
Chakra Nature Transformation
Sasuke is one of the few shinobi in history who is able to utilize all five nature transformations, as well as Yin and Yang. As a recognized member of the Uchiha, Sasuke is highly proficient with Fire Style, having already mastered the technique in his clan’s rite of passage at age 7. Even Kakashi was surprised by this achievement due to his young age, according to him, genin usually need much more experience and develop their chakra to perform elemental techniques. He can also use his fire techniques in conjunction with his weapon skills. He can also produce a flurry of giant dragon-shaped fireballs that can quickly burn an enemy, even with minimal contact.
Sasuke also has a natural affinity for the Lightning Style, learning it under Kakashi’s tutelage through the mastery of Chidori. With this, he can use piercing attacks on most targets and severely wound most enemies with ease. In Part I, Sasuke could only use it twice a day, plus a third use when activating his Cursed Seal. In Part II, Sasuke developed his lightning chakra greatly, creating many new techniques derived from his Chidori, which he can now use several times a day. He even earned praise from the Fourth Raikage for going through his Lightning Style Chakra Mode.
Sasuke can also channel his lightning chakra into his weapons to increase their cutting power to the extreme, which also dulls those who are cut. By doing so through his sword, he can even cut through similar chakra waves. Another of Sasuke’s original techniques is Kirin, which uses natural lightning, which allows him to use it even when exhausted. It is powerful enough to destroy a mountain and break Itachi’s Susanoo.
After acquiring the Chakra of the Six Paths, Sasuke was able to infuse it into his Chidori, which allowed him to effectively fight Madara as a Ten-Cauda jinchūriki, having enough power to cut him in half. Sasuke can also manipulate his lightning chakra and techniques through his Susanoo.
Once he combines his lightning chakra and the Beasts with Tails chakra through his Susanoo, Sasuke can create several giant senbon, which were able to counter Naruto’s senjutsu-enhanced Beast with Tails Ball. He can also perform his most powerful technique, Indra’s Arrow, which was able to counter Naruto’s two strongest techniques simultaneously. Two years after the Fourth Shinobi World War, Sasuke’s ability with the Chidori grew enormously, being able to completely destroy half of a falling meteor.
When Sasuke manifested his Mangekyou Sharingan, he developed the ability to use a special type of Fire Style, which he calls the “Flame Style”. In addition to unleashing a wave of inextinguishable black flames, Sasuke can control the movement of the flames and shape them, as well as create points of black flames that surround him to protect himself.
By gaining his Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan, Sasuke can combine his Flame Style: Kagutsuchi with his Susanoo to create Amaterasu swords and arrows that can pierce through rigid defenses and ignite them, and create a flurry of Amaterasu magatama to deal with multiple enemies. Sasuke can also wear his Kagutsuchi on his hand for direct use, as well as infuse it into his Chidori.
Dōjutsu
Sharingan
Sasuke is one of the select members of the Uchiha clan who managed to awaken the Sharingan, awakening it at the age of 7 with a tomoe in each eye after seeing the murder of his clan at the hands of Itachi. However, due to the trauma Sasuke suffered, he was unable to remember this development and was unable to use it until years later during his battle with Haku.
Later, during his battle against Naruto in the Valley of the End, both of his eyes reached full maturity with three tomoe. With training, Sasuke became able to keep his Sharingan activated for considerable periods of time, with little effect to his chakra levels, even against several high-level opponents. Despite making liberal use of it during Part I, Orochimaru stated that Sasuke’s Sharingan had even greater power and clarity than Itachi, despite its incomplete state at the time. This was demonstrated in Part II several times; against Deidara, his Sharingan allowed him to perceive the microscopic C4 bombs that were in and around his body.
This dōjutsu grants Sasuke multiple enhanced visual powers, being able to observe and differentiate chakra flow, perceive everything within his vision in great detail, and accurately predict almost any movement of a person. He can also perfectly mimic a person’s movements and copy their techniques into his own arsenal, provided he is physically conditioned to use it, or else he risks straining his body too much.
His Sharingan can also cast powerful genjutsu through eye contact, being able to easily hypnotize his targets to restrict their movements, scour their memories, apply deceptive hallucinations shocking enough to agitate the then emotionless Sai, and even easily overpower Jūgo when he is in violent urges. Defensively, Sasuke was able to repel the technique of an enemy attacking his own mind, as seen when he stopped Orochimaru’s attempt to possess his body and ultimately turn it against him. Despite wielding a smaller dōjutsu, Sasuke’s eyes proved strong enough to dispel a genjutsu as powerful as Itachi’s Tsukuyomi.
Similarly, Tobi noted that Sasuke’s resourcefulness and precise timing with his illusions can easily catch his opponents off guard. More prominently, Sasuke was able to enter Naruto’s subconscious to effectively suppress Kurama’s chakra, and control Manda completely, and show potential to subdue tailed beasts.
Mangekyou Sharingan
Sasuke awakened his Mangekyou Sharingan after discovering the truth about his older brother’s true intentions. The tomoe of Sasuke’s Mangekyou propagates and converges along the edge of his irises, taking on the appearance of three intersecting ellipses. Like most Mangekyou Sharingan, prolonged and regular use on his eye powers can deteriorate his vision.
Despite this danger, Sasuke has not hesitated to test its limits with the power it provides. During his confrontation with Kakashi, overuse of his Mangekyou Sharingan resulted in Sasuke suffering from overexertion and his vision being reduced to a heavy blur. This combined with Naruto’s unwavering convictions caused Sasuke to finally have Tobi transplant Itachi’s eyes into him to regain his sight.
This resulted in Sasuke acquiring the Mangekyou Eternal Sharingan; obtaining additional power from Itachi’s eye power and no longer showing any physical strain such as diminished eyesight or sustained fatigue when using this dōjutsu. With this new form the pattern of Sasuke’s Mangekyou has changed, gaining a symmetrical and more aligned version of Itachi’s Mangekyou tomoe that is centered within Sasuke’s own Mangekyou. The pattern of Sasuke’s Eternal Mangekyou is known as the “Straight Tomoe” (直巴, Choku Tomoe), which gives Sasuke an even greater ability to read his opponents’ movements and act more fluidly.
With his left Mangekyou, he is able to launch unquenchable black flames at his focal point with Amaterasu. With his right Mangekyou, he is able to cast Flame Style: Kagutsuchi to manipulate and extinguish them at will. Due to this greater degree of control, Sasuke’s use with these black flames are considered superior to Itachi. He has regularly used his right eye to cast genjutsu, some powerful enough to break a target’s will and paralyze them. Danzō Shimura stated that Sasuke’s genjutsu is unable to alter the victim’s perception of time, and is therefore far inferior to Itachi’s Tsukuyomi.
After awakening the powers in both Mangekyou Sharingan, Sasuke became one of the few Uchiha capable of summoning the Susanoo, with his extreme emotions being the root of his development. Although initially relying on different partial manifestations, Sasuke was soon able to complete the body of his Susanoo. He can produce a sword, a bow that functions as a shield, and a chakra sphere that creates his arrows.
Defensively, his ribcage is able to withstand a barrage of direct attacks from Gaara, Temari, Kankurō, and Darui without taking any damage. Offensively, his Susanoo’s fists and various weapons are strong enough to destroy several giant stone pillars with a single strike, and his arrows move at a speed that only a Sage Mode user like Kabuto can avoid. Sasuke’s armored Susanoo developed during his battle against Kakashi into an even more sinister version similar to the form of Itachi’s armored Susanoo, changing the composition of his chakra sphere to one of black flames in which he is able to form a large number of weapons.
After recovering from Itachi’s eye transplant, the final stage of his Susanoo underwent a drastic change, with the hands becoming scale-like, a hood resembling a beak, and a larger bow with a composition more like a shield, giving it a more intimidating appearance overall. During the Fourth Shinobi World War, Sasuke was able to summon his full Susanoo with his lower body. Using Jūgo’s Sage Transformation, Sasuke is able to infuse his Susanoo with senjutsu chakra, which covers it with the flame pattern of the Cursed Seal of Heaven.
After his new synchronization with Naruto, Sasuke can stabilize the armored form of the full-body Susanoo to cover Naruto’s senjutsu-enhanced Beast with Tail Mode, allowing them to slash Obito and his Nunoboko sword.
After adjusting with the power acquired from Hagoromo, Sasuke could manifest his Susanoo without activating his Mangekyou Sharingan and even advance it to a full-body version. In this state, he was able to fight off Madara’s multiple Chibaku Tensei and even protect those within him from Infinite Tsukuyomi, as his light cannot penetrate through his chakra body.
Rinnegan
After receiving the Chakra of the Six Paths, Sasuke’s left Sharingan evolved into a Rinnegan. Unlike Hagoromo, Sasuke’s Rinnegan has a secondary state that has six tomoe around the eye. When drained of its power, Sasuke’s Rinnegan cannot access this state and its full power for a long period of time, until after it is restored, similarly affecting the power of his Mangekyou Sharingan.
As a true bearer of this eye, Sasuke can deactivate his Rinnegan at will. Although his Rinnegan manifests in only one eye, its power is still on par with the dual Rinnegan variant. Using the Rinnegan repeatedly seems to require Sasuke to close his eyes, though it doesn’t seem to exhaust him like everyone else, due to his extraordinary chakra reserves and overuse to prolong it.
Although when he did get it, that didn’t happen until his final battle with Naruto. When he reaches the point of exhaustion, Sasuke has to close his Rinnegan to avoid chakra drain, but he can access at least the Black Path even with his eye closed.
With it, Sasuke gains the ability to touch Madara’s chaka receptors without suffering their side effects. He is also able to see targets that would otherwise be invisible, and Black Zetsu has also alluded that Sasuke’s Rinnegan may be the reason why he was able to resist the influence of the Infinite Tsukuyomi, and why its light could not penetrate through his Susanoo. Furthermore, the Rinnegan also makes Sasuke the only one able to detect Kaguya Ōtsutsutsuki’s chakra traces.
Sasuke’s Rinnegan can still access the powers of his left Sharingan, such as Amaterasu and Susanoo, and cast genjutsu strong enough to control all nine tailed beasts at once, with a little Kurama Yang resistance. Unique to his Rinnegan, he gained the ability to teleport himself or any target near him and swap places with objects within a limited range.
After fully mastering this power, Sasuke became able to teleport to much greater distances and even between Kaguya’s unique dimensions, but only a certain number of times before needing to recharge, during which time he can only teleport over small distances. This is noted when his Rinnegan lost its six tomoe.
After adjusting with Hagoromo’s dōjutsu, Sasuke was able to use the powers of the Six Path Technique, using the Deva Path to seal all nine tailed beasts each within a satellite of Chibaku Tensei, and the Black Path to absorb chakra through physical contact. Kurama Yin noted that because Sasuke’s Rinnegan was still new at the time, he could not absorb and use techniques simultaneously.
Using his Susanoo as a vessel, Sasuke was able to absorb, contain and control the chakra of the tailed beasts much like the Outer Path Demon Statue briefly oppressed Naruto in their final battle. Kurama Yin noted that Sasuke’s fusion of the chakra of the tailed beasts is on par with the separation Hagoromo did with the chakra of the Ten-Caudas. With this, his lightning-enhanced techniques applied through Susanoo increase greatly in power.
Senjutsu
Cursed Seal
A notable aspect of Sasuke’s growth was his acquisition of the Cursed Seal of Heaven by Orochimaru, in the hope that Sasuke could become stronger and seek even more of the Sannin’s power. When activated, the cursed seal absorbed much of Sasuke’s chakra, replacing it with Orochimaru’s senjutsu chakra that covered his body with a pattern of flames and granted him enhanced chakra and physical ability.
Initially, the seal could activate and oppress Sasuke by using chakra or getting emotional, making Sasuke only able to control it with willpower. After defecting from Konoha, the Sound Quartet advanced Sasuke’s Cursed Seal, letting Sasuke unleash and control its power at will. Upon accessing the second level of the seal, Sasuke’s skin turned dark gray with a black four-pointed star mark between his eyes that ran across the bridge of his nose.
His sclera and iris turned black and yellow, respectively (except when he wore his Sharingan), along with his lips turning blue. His fingernails also grew into claw-like shapes and his hair grew to waist height. At any time, he was able to create large wings with hand-shaped membranes on his back that allowed him to fly. This power enhanced his physical abilities and chakra to the point where they were comparable to Naruto’s tail form.
As a negative effect, prolonged use of the seal eroded Sasuke’s body and caused him some pain. Its chakra also distorted and darkened Sasuke’s personality. However, in Part II, Sasuke’s training apparently allowed him to have complete control over the seal, being able to use it painlessly for long periods of time and even perform partial transformations at will.
After Itachi removed Orochimaru from Sasuke’s body and sealed him, the seal was also removed. Despite this, Sasuke was still shown to be compatible with the source of the cursed seal, Jūgo, who allied himself with Sasuke. Sasuke can benefit from Jūgo’s power to perform feats such as healing him and infusing parts of Jūgo’s flesh into his own body. Alternatively, Sasuke himself can be imbued with parts of Jūgo’s senjutsu chakra to augment various techniques of his own.
Intelligence
From a young age, Sasuke repeatedly showed sharp instincts and the ability to make quick decisions, and is considered by many to be a genius. Being able to easily learn several advanced techniques or use the most basic ones for cunning maneuvers, Sasuke was already outstanding even before he graduated from the Academy. He is a skilled and tactical strategist, observing his opponent’s abilities and deducing their workings with ease and precision while remaining calm and composed. He then chooses the most effective means and ninjutsu to combat them.
His resolve also allows him to choose the strategies where he requires getting injured in order to defeat the enemy, showing tremendous endurance and willpower. Likewise, he can use his techniques as preparations for larger-scale techniques. Even very skilled shinobi such as Minato Namikaze and Madara have noted Sasuke’s impressive analytical skills. Sasuke is also a very capable leader, being able to form a team of specific ninjas and instruct them during battles against enemies.
Sasuke can develop many powerful techniques on his own, all based on some technique he has learned from others, such as different moves of Lee’s taijutsu techniques, or innovative variations of Chidori. He can be somewhat deceptive, being able to trick older, more experienced shinobi like Danzō into confirming the mechanics of his techniques.
Likewise, Sasuke can use even basic illusions to dangerous effect, tricking his opponent into letting his guard down. Sasuke is a competent researcher, being able to prepare well to face his enemies and their various abilities, such as the nature of Orochimaru’s snake techniques and his unique cursed seals. Sasuke can also use his Sharingan to perfectly synchronize his chakra with Naruto to perform the Kagutsuchi infused technique, something Tobirama noted as being extremely difficult.
Sasuke is a capable tracker, being able to follow Itachi even though the latter used a flock of crows to block his view. Sasuke is also shown to be very alert, quickly noticing Sakura’s discarded vest in a portal opened by her and Obito for only seconds and teleporting to it to reunite with them.
Other Abilities
Under Orochimaru’s training, Sasuke was subjected to experiments by the Sannin and as a result developed physical enhancements, including an immunity to most forms of poisons. After absorbing Orochimaru, Sasuke gained the Sannin’s regenerative powers, allowing him to heal at a much faster rate than usual, and access to Orochimaru’s chakra as extra reserves.
He could also shed his skin and produce a new body to repair any damage he had sustained. He is also one of the few Uchiha who can access the Naka Shrine. Sasuke can also cooperate with the others, performing a series of precise and coordinated attacks with his brother Itachi, despite their previous volatile relationship. After his encounter with Hagoromo, Sasuke was able to temporarily use a powerful fūinjutsu alongside Naruto, which was strong enough to seal Kaguya. As an adult, he also demonstrates the ability to use the Shadow Clone Technique.
